I had a terrible and scary experience at this place. There was a customer who seemed to be a regular (chatting non-stop with counter staff). She stopped chatting and went to sit in the patio. As I passed by her to sit further back in the patio she deliberately coughed in my direction, and again into the air before she left and said: “I hope you catch my disease”. Even if it was outside, I am 60 years old and do not want to be at the mercy of a hostile/dangerous customer at a place I choose as a business. When I asked to speak with the manager, all the manager did was yell from behind the counter: “BUSY!!!”. I had no idea that the busy person making coffee was the manager until I was told so, and I would have patiently waited if she had said “I will be with you as soon as I’m done” or something to that effect. Yelling “BUSY” to a customer who has a grievance is not the way I want to be treated by an establishment I have given preference to during a pandemic. There are many businesses who respect their customers that I choose to patronize, and Lackawanna Coffee is definitely no longer included among them, since I will not touch that place with a 6 foot pole. There are all kinds of people everywhere but I do expect the manager to address the issue or at least listen to what I have to say when I feel threatened or mistreated in their establishment. I do not feel safe nor welcome going to this business, since this woman seems to be a regular there and the manager doesn’t care and gives you a rude reply when you try to tell her. There are many other cafes in the neighborhood...

Read moreI was visiting Jersey city from LA. Coffee was very good. However, the atmosphere and service we received was terrible. On a Wednesday morning at 10am, my gf and I walked in with great energy to get a nice coffee. The girl at the register did not raise her eyes up to us ONCE. Was on her phone while we were trying to order. Barely said a word back. Asked me if I wanted small or large. To which I replied “is any of those a 12oz?”. Literally just kept an annoying face and did not reply at all.
As I was waiting for my coffee I realized my gf had gotten her latte iced, so I talked to the barista just, out of courtesy, to tell him “I don’t think I mentioned it at the register, but I’d like my latte hot, I know my girl had a cold drink.” To which the barista, also in a weird mood, just quickly replied “yeah, yeah coming out”. I’m sorry but what kind of service is that? The energy in the place was terrible. I would never go back to get...
