I finally tried the Warehouse Cafe after one kickboxing session at CKO. I had spent months drooling all over the pictures of their avocado toast, but never had the opportunity to try it. So does it live up to all the hype? For once, it does!
My boyfriend and I came in on a Sunday at around 10:30. It wasn't too packed yet. There were a few people on their laptops inside, and still a few empty tables left outside. I'm not sure if they were just short-staffed that day, but it took them forever to take orders. Just take though - food came out in about ten minutes. You place your order at the counter, and they'll call your name when it's ready.
I had the avocado toast, which also has pecorino romano and cayenne pepper. It's a bit pricey at $8, but I feel like any avocado toast is when you eat out. This one was more about their bread. It was thinly sliced, and perfectly toasted. I could totally make this at home if I can find the right type of bread, but my rendition usually consists of Wonder Bread, out of convenience. I also had the organic honey iced latte (definitely pricey at $5.50), but it did taste good. I just don't know if it was $5.50 good.
He had the Jamon (smoked ham, cheddar, strawberry preserves panini). I didn't really like it. It was a weird combination for me but my boyfriend really seemed to enjoy it. I have to say though, again, they got the bread right - it was perfectly toasted.
I saw someone else's order of the hummus toast, which comes with a neatly stacked layer of cucumbers. It's not normally something I would normally order but it looked really good. I guess I'll just have to come...
Read moreI’m giving 3 stars because I actually like the taste of the coffee drinks. However, everything else is an extremely unfortunate experience. (I’d like to note that I’ve been here more than 5x and decided to write a review after going today and noticing that the overall negligence still exists.) At entrance, don’t expect anyone to acknowledge it, no one did today nor has in the past. Obviously during busy times I personally don’t expect this at all, however there was absolutely no one in line and three employees behind the counter, 2chatting to themselves, the other on her phone behind the iPad “register”. We went to order and opened the dialogue first, with a very unenthused response back from the staff member, who proceeded to look down at her phone... After placing our orders / waiting for our drinks, we wanted water which was next to a pile of dirty dishes. There were no available glasses for water, so we asked for some, and when I went to fill it up with water, the jug was empty...
We notified staff and they filled our water, but no movement on solving the water jug problem — making sense that there was pile of dishes accumulated, with flies flying around.
It has potential but the overall feeling and experience coming here is consistently...
Read moreI have been to this location twice. The first time I went, the barista who was a lady, served us very professionally. She made our drinks fast, and had a very beautiful latte art, a tulip, for our turkish latte. The drinks were fantastic because the espresso tasted good, the milk had a perfect (not too hot, not too cold) temperature, so you could really feel the flavors in the cup.
Second time, we ordered 3 drinks under a different male barista. I had noticed that the male barista was very lazy at pouring milk and most likely frothing it. He would pour the whole jug at a super fast pace without really caring. Our drinks came in with zero canvas or latte art in our drink which was extremely disappointing. Also the milk was too hot, so the flavor of the espresso burnt, and well the drinks tasted worse than Starbucks. He also just had a pretty off attitude working there.
Overall, I find this place pretty inconsistent as it is based solely on the barista working there. My advice, fire the male barista, keep the female barista. While, I really enjoy the place and the female barista’s drinks, I would not come to the location again for coffee as it...
