Amanda is a horrible managing partner. They operate this location illegally barring one of the side entrances now (fire code violation) all because I used to go in there and buy a soda and then help myself to the free soft serve as is your right as a customer of Jason’s deli. They illegally barred this side door and it’s cost them tens of thousands this last year in lost revenue….all out of spite too.
When I told this story to the manager of the Tomball Jason’s deli he paid for my meal and told me to have as much soft serve ice cream as I could eat. What a class act. This Jason’s deli on 1960 though is a shell of its former self and I make sure to flick a cigarette or hawk a luggie on their glass Everytime I walk by it.
I went in there a couple months back just to see what it’s like in there now…and it was a ghost town. Completely different atmosphere and not in a pleasant way and I asked if I could purchase just an ice cream cone and the cashier was nice told me to just help myself they’re free….im not sitting down 5 minutes before a “manager” in broken English starts interrogating me again just like Amanda did a year prior. I tell her I wanted to purchase it and she doesn’t know what to say just keeps repeating the same thing. I had permission and tried to buy so it nonsense I couldn’t understand her anyway. I told them of my experience in Tomball and some busser chimes in from behind two people “yeah, well this ain’t Tomball homeboy….”
Uh well actually, homeboy, technically it is. How professional too I might add.
Unfortunately this Jason’s deli isn’t long for 1960 with the current managing partner in place.
Shame that a customer who albeit, found a loophole, still a customer of 15 years plus….is forced to write a review that’s so telling.
This would never happen at the Jason’s deli on 249.
Amanda has to go. Not the first negative review calling her out by name. Clearly something’s wrong there.
Help yourself to as much ice cream as you like, anyone who made a purchase. That’s what it’s there...
Read moreFirst time at this location and the experience was terrible. Upon entering, the restaurant was very smokey from what seemed to be their toaster. Ordered a sandwich, garden salad, a cup of French Onion soup and a bowl of Broccoli Cheddar soup and a cheesecake slice, all to-go.
After waiting 15 minutes, one of the servers advised me that my sandwich couldn't be made because the toaster was damaged (mentioned the smoke in the restaurant above); but everything else I ordered is available. I understand that the toaster situation was out of the servers control, but it was still frustrating that someone else took the order. I went to the rest so they can refund me for the sandwich. Jason, the manager, came to the register to apologize and refunded the whole order to comp the meal. After waiting another 10 minutes (25 minutes so far), I returned to the register to inquire the order. It seemed none of the 7 workers behind the counter were aware that I was waiting. It took them 5 minutes to get the order of soups brought over to me. I then had to return to the register for the cheesecake, which the cashier also forgot about.
The manager is the reason I've given 2 stars. I appreciate him going beyond by comping the meal, but the service from everyone else was poor. Having to ask for my order multiple times and the cashier being forgetful left an impression of not caring.
The food: I was told the garden salad and the options came out pretty good. The salad bar has a lot but is kind of cramped. The Broccoli Cheddar soup was described as good and the French onion soup and cheesecake were "on par".
I don't think I'll be returning to this location...
Read moreNew Review: I am changing my rating for this location from 1 to 4 stars due to the actions they took after I posted my initial review. After I posted the review. Amanda T. contacted me to discuss the situation and apologized to me. She told me she had interviewed people involved that day and took appropriate actions to address the issue. I stopped in the same location yesterday and she was at the counter, funny. Everything went smoothly as it should be. The ice cream is back!!!
Original Review: I usually eat here once or twice a month since this is a good place to get a salad, a soup or a sandwich and, of course, a small ice cream cone after the meal. Yesterday was a disappointment though. The ice cream machine did not work and there was a sign stating "Ask us for a sweet treat" so I went to the front and asked what the sweet treat was. The gentleman at the register turned around and asked a lady "Marina" what sweet treat he should hand out. She looked at me and told the guy "Nothing since the ice cream machine is not working." The guy told Marina there was a sign stating to come to the front and ask for a sweet treat. Marina insisted that there would be no sweet treat since the ice cream machine was not working. I told her I saw them handing out cookies to customers when they came and asked. The guy finally got fed up with her and asked if I wanted a cookie. I think this is a racially biased case since I am an Asian and she saw me and refused to honor whatever they were supposed to do. How come she did not do that to other customers!!!! I did not see her refusing to give out sweet treats to Caucasian and...
