This has been my go-to wing spot for the last 3 years because it was affordable, friendly staff, and it was reliable. But tonight probably ended that for me based on 3 factors, but it's clear the new owners are going to drive away a lot of their current regulars...
Price. HOLY COW did the price increase on ALL food items, and not by just a single dollar here or there, but on some meals it was a THREE DOLLAR INCREASE....The 5 wing combo with fries used to be $8.99 and it is now currently sitting at $11.99! I cannot for the life of me justify a $3 increase for this food, especially when quality (while decent) remains the same. Their prices across the board are much, much higher. We regularly order a 20 piece combo with fries and a 10 piece combo with fries, and it's always been $38.XX with tax in the past. Tonight it was $45.29 with tax. A $7 increase on my meal with no other changes is ridiculous. No quality changes and the only thing I can see in the restaurant that has changed are the new POS systems and front end refrigerators that have been setup, but unused for MONTHS now. Why am I, as a customer paying for the new owner's desire to have new POS systems when the food quality still is at best "acceptable"?
Stinginess with the extras. They are now limiting you on how many sauces you can get with your meals. 5 and 10 wings get 1 ranch or bleu cheese. 15 and 20 wings get 2, and 30+ gets 3. If you want an extra, it costs $1.00 for them. I don't know if people were really taking advantage or anything but being stingy with the sauces and charging another dollar for them when you never have in the past is ridiculous. They even laminated a paper explaining their new costs for sauces and posted it where you pick up your food. Why would I come back if my meal costs more and you are trying to Nickle and dime me at every possible spot?
The new owners are just not nice. It's an old Korean couple that are clearly new owners and managing the store now. They aren't nice, they are struggling with their own new equipment, and they've really made the atmosphere in there unpleasant. It's a shame because I'm literally less than a mile away from here and I have absolutely ZERO desire to go back.
I implore people to give a second thought to going here again because they are pricing out the regulars who dine here nearly weekly and have made what was a dinner and occasional lunch spot a place that will no longer be in...
Read moreWhen I went to this restaurant on January 27, 2025, my coat was torn due to the protrusion on the edge of one of the tables. I spoke to the restaurant manager Jay Kim. I asked him to compensate me for the damages I had caused due to the lack of necessary precautions. He first pretended not to understand me. Then he offered me $20. I asked him if he could buy such a coat for $20, he said no. Then I asked him if he would wear this coat himself, he said no to my question. I told him that I had bought the coat on sale a few months ago for $60 and that it was worth more. He then pretended to be helpful and asked me to bring the receipt for the coat. I got his phone number and left. I looked for the receipt but couldn't find it. I went back to the restaurant the next day and spoke to Jay Kim again. Just as I was about to say that I couldn't find the receipt and therefore I couldn't force him to replace the coat, he suddenly changed his mind and said that it was my fault and he didn't want to compensate me in any way. I'll leave it to you to decide. In the first photo, there is the image of the table that damaged my coat, in the second photo, there is the damaged part of my coat, and in the 3rd photo, there is the temporary solution they found for the table. I am waiting for your ideas on how I can seek my rights against such a management. Because they have an unprofessional approach and I want to get compensation for my damages.
EDIT: You said; "I would like to discuss possible solutions further, please reach out to us. Your satisfaction is important to us, and we will do our best to find a resolution." But I have come to your restaurant twice to meet with you to resolve this issue and seek compensation for my damages. Both times you have not only made no effort to resolve the issue but also rudely refused. Now you are lying here to look nice to potential customers on social media. I regret to inform you that there is nothing else to do but resolve this matter through legal channels. Please continue the same negative attitude you have shown me during the...
Read moreSumo Hibachi & Wings in Johns Creek is a convenient to-go hibachi spot with a diverse menu that caters to a variety of tastes. I recently visited this casual, counter-serve eatery and have mixed feelings about the experience.
The menu offers an array of options, and I decided to try the House Hibachi, which was excellent in terms of value. However, the quality of the food was somewhat lacking. The steak in the hibachi was rubbery, and the wings were not sourced very well. The price of wings has also increased significantly; it now costs close to $17 after tax for 10 wings and rice, which is quite high compared to other similar establishments.
One thing to note is that you will need to pay for additional yum yum sauce. Every entrée comes with one serving, but any extra will cost you a bit more. This is a small inconvenience, but something to be aware of.
On the positive side, the service at Sumo Hibachi & Wings was quick and efficient. They managed to get my order out speedily, which is great for those looking for a fast meal. The place was clean, and the staff provided good service, which added to the overall positive experience.
While the food was just average and not something to brag about, Sumo Hibachi & Wings serves its purpose as a quick and convenient option for Japanese food. It’s not the best quality I've had, but it's decent for a quick bite.
Overall, my experience at Sumo Hibachi & Wings was mixed. While the service and convenience were commendable, the food quality left something to be desired. My rating stands at 3...
