I've been to this location twice now and I gotta say the burgers are absolutely delicious! With that being said, there's several things they could be doing better. I realize they just opened and everyone and their mom in Joplin has been coming here ever since, but there's still a lot of room for improvement.
First off, getting into the parking lot is confusing as hell since they have the main driveway blocked off with cones and signs on Rangeline telling you where to go. You have to go past Whataburger and turn right on 22nd street and literally go behind the restaurant to enter the parking lot.
I watched several people try to pull into the main entrance and had to be told by security or whoever to go around. It was so bad the first week they had a Joplin police officer out front directing traffic. If you need a city cop to direct traffic in your restaurants parking lot then that says a lot.
The wait times in the drive-thru are absolutely ridiculous, even with two lanes. Both times I visited I had to wait in line for exactly 30 minutes before I got my food. Not exactly fast food, is it? I could drive to virtually any restaurant in the area and be served faster by dining-in. This has to change.
Both times I was there I witnessed several people in line receiving their food before the cars in front of them and then watched them get mad because they can't even exit the line due to the people in front of them not being served first. There's no reason why this is happening. At that point you're just holding people hostage while their food gets cold and making the person in front of them look stupid.
The ketchup they serve with their fries is very tasty, but the second time I went through my fries were stale right out of the bag and there was no ketchup included, but at least the burger made up for it.
Given enough time I'm sure they will make some much needed improvements. I probably won't be back for at least a month until they can hire some more help and improve their service a bit. But I am happy to finally have a Whataburger in the area instead of a third Braums or Chick-fil-A. Hopefully whenever the Webb City location opens it will help alleviate some of the...
Read moreI work overnights at the hospital so whataburger is a common place for me to order through DoorDash. However tonight I was able to come and pick up my food. I placed it on the mobile app 15 mins prior to arrival. I do not expect to be greeted instantly as it is nights. However I wait for 5-10 or so mins again that’s not an issue. The 2 staff in the kitchen do notice me standing at the stand. But of course they don’t get paid for that. However they could have told the manager (assuming based on attire) that I was up at the stand or walked away to find the appropriate staff. Instead they didn’t. So I was forced to listen to their lack of education based on their choice of wording. Again I understand words happen but saying f this f that why tf are they ordering this etc non stop and in every sentence when the workload is not intense is a little much. Actually kind of annoying I don’t want to listen to that. But not really an issue what didn’t set right with me is the manager then notices me. Doesn’t say anything and starts hunting for the employee named Carol. Spends about 5 minutes on it. Instead of coming to assist me? But I mean that’s not her job right… then Carol comes and apologized and they can’t find my order in the system. I show them my receipt and they say well that don’t prove anything. I’m sorry? It 100% does it says time and location. So they go “hunting” and find it in the drive through area so I’m assuming I placed it for drive through instead of pick up. Again no worries just kind of annoying. Nothing against Carol she did great but it’s every other staff here. Very unprofessional and inconsiderate. If the restaurant was busy I’d understand but it’s minimal orders. No need to act stuck up or above your pay when this is a restaurant not something unrealistically hard. Without proper team work and the right mindset a business cannot thrive to its maximum. Pls take the time to educate and properly train you staff it’s...
Read moreI ordered online for outside pickup. I ordered a very specific hamburger with a very specific ingredient list, and they fixed my burger exactly the way I wanted it and delivered it hot and fresh. Other than that, I had a small sweet tea that was quite good, sweet but not syrup sweet, cold with just the right amount of ice to keep the tea cold without diluting. I also had small fries. They were quite good as well, and I also ordered onion rings. The onion rings were excellent, right out of the fryer and hot enough I had to let them cool down a little before eating them. Which ensured the last onion ring was hot and tasty, not cold and mushy.
I was actually sitting in the parking lot when I placed my online order, and I must say, I really like the way Whatburger has set up their online app. It is VERY easy to navigate, easy to make your selection, and even easier (if possible) to customize anything you order. The rest of the ordering was just as easy as well as adding a new payment method and storing it for next time. When I finished with my online order, it said my order would be ready in 5 to 8 minutes. It arrived to my car in 5 to 6 minutes, fresh, hot, and exactly as I ordered it.
I must say that whoever Whataburger got to design their app, really did a great job at making it easy to use and easy to customize your order no matter if you are a seasoned computer pro or are ordering online for the very first time.
I did not go inside, so I can not review the inside, but the person who brought my order was very polite and professional, and handled my order with care. Also, when I was finished and ready to leave, there were plenty of trash cans available for trash within a short walk, and none of...
