Amazing place with a rich history of old movie stardom. The place needs some help and should be capitalising on the memorabilia that made the 1st motel here famous. There are signed photos everywhere and they even made movies there. There's also an old barn that plays the movie's that relate to the property and is free to go. Quaint Pleasant well appointed rooms though they did forget to service our room and make the bed, but the charm and peace of the place helped me forgive them. The only motel we stayed in that had lovely big trees and greenery on the property. Unfortunately the staff seemed to be lacking in professional training. The night front desk manager from New York was brilliant and extremely helpful . The day manager however, was eating at reception and encouraging the staff to hang around the desk talking. Plus do they think customers are stupid? We can hear you gossiping about other staff and generally stirring each other to criticize other staff performance. Congregating with your backs to the main door is not at all welcoming to guests in fact the opposite. A true manager manages the staff, the situation and is friendly not a friend to his employees. Also whilst we were having breakfast the staff were helping themselves to the buffet before the guests had finished, not acceptable. I know the property had recently been bought and I hope the owners have the foresight to read their reviews and address what could easily be very detrimental to the future of this gorgeous property. Would I stay there again? Yes Would I recommend it? Yes In fact out of all the motels in the town I'd say this was the best and also one of the most reasonably priced with a...
Read moreParry Lodge is a must if you are staying in Kanab. It’s so cool. It’s quant, nostalgic and has a ton of history. They shut down for a while during COVID, but thanks to some locals who bought it, they were able to reopen and keep the original feel. The staff are all accommodating and you can tell that they love their jobs, their town and their rich history at Parry Lodge. Back in the day of John Wayne and when Westerns were hot, Parry served as the place to stay for the movie stars and cast. You will see hundreds of photos and memorabilia from some of the great Movie Stars and Films. The rooms are updated but still have a throwback feel. The A/C works GREAT. I’m hot natured and almost got cold. The room was clean and quiet. The breakfast buffet was delicious and affordable at only $8 per person. There is a wide selection of traditional breakfast items as well as fruit, breads and cereals. It was well worth it. The hotel is centrally located in Kanab. We walked everywhere and nothing seemed like it was more than a 10 minute walk and the most. There are great restaurants close by and local shops as well. We watched a Western in the barn one evening. I think they show a different Western nightly at 7:00pm. The barn was rustic but it was the perfect setting for an old Western. The pool was cool and refreshing. It’s 10-feet deep in the deep end and it’s a larger pool than it looks. With great rooms, a central location, amazing history, fantastic food, entertainment and all around great people, Parry Lodge was a real treat for our entire family. Thank you Parry Lodge. We...
Read moreWe’ve stayed here several times. It is an historic (older) hotel/motel; some rooms open to the outside and some are in a slightly newer block of rooms that open to interior hallways. There are also a handful of small cottages around the pool. Kanab’s claim to fame is that they were a site for many Hollywood westerns in the 30s-50s, and quite a few Golden Age movie stars stayed at Parry Lodge. We like the history and the vintage western posters that decorate the rooms and property. ||Rooms are not spacious but are clean and well equipped with microwaves, coffee makers, mini fridges, lots of towels, and bath amenities. Floors are laminate. Beds are very comfortable which is unusual for moderately-priced lodgings these days. The best deal in town is the $8 breakfast buffet, with a wide variety of hot and cold breakfast options including real eggs, bacon/ham, pancakes/waffles, biscuits & gravy, fresh fruit, yogurt, different toast/pastries, and of course lots of hot coffee, tea, and juice, all served in a spacious breakfast room. ||We had a wait to check in this time due to a “laundry issue” while they were fully booked. The desk staff was helpful and managed everything well. We’ve used the outdoor pool in the past but didn’t do so this time (we should have, the weather was great!) You can walk to several dining options within 2-3 blocks north of the hotel; it’s a convenient jumping off point if you’re headed to Zion or other outdoor adventures...
