The Soda Fountain — Restaurant in Kanab

I went to The Soda Fountain this afternoon to grab my wife a tasty treat. The sundae was tasty and the price was reasonable for this expensive area.

My issue, however, was with the service. I told the young woman serving me that my order was to-go, and to please place it in a larger cup so it wouldn’t drip and spill on my drive. She did not listen to me, and instead placed a cup dripping with ice cream onto the counter. I again stated that my order was to-go, and she looked at me like I made some unknown or ridiculous request. When I asked for a larger cup or a lid, her idea was to place another styrofoam cup on top and say “here you go.”

How an ice cream shop, in a tourist town, during the COVID pandemic doesn’t understand how to handle to-go orders is...

Came to the Soda Fountain after eating dinner across the street. I got a waffle cone with vanilla ice cream and rainbow sprinkles. The worker who helped us wasn't the friendliest and apparently didn't know how to put sprinkles on an ice cream cone. They literally put a spoon of sprinkles into their palm and placed one side of the ice cream on it. So there was a few sprinkles on one side of my ice cream. Not exactly what I was hoping for lol. The vanilla itself was alright, nothing special. I'm not sure if they make their ice cream from scratch in house but it doesn't taste like it is. it seems like their specialty is the fancy soda combinations. We stopped in for lunch on our way through town. We both ordered the Kanab Classic, which (copying from the menu) consisted of roasted chicken, tomato, red onion, bacon, ranch, and provolone on a ciabatta roll. It was absolutely delicious! Afterward h husband talked me into an ice cream sundae; I ordered some kind of mint sundae (loaded with brownie bits, Andes mints, and hot fudge), while my husband ordered a sundae with salted caramel chips, Heath crunchies , and pecans. They were loaded! Definitely had a sugar rush after that! Loved the spoons which changed color when they were cold 😊 Everything was good.
