What a wonderful way to end our time in Kanab. We spent a few nights camping around the area and had our eye on this adorable motel when we would come into town to replenish our supplies (and caffeine). Some friends of ours mentioned they stayed here awhile back and loved it so we decided it was going to be our last stop before heading back home.
After staying in some questionable hotels across NV and UT at higher rates, this was certainly a pleasant surprise. We rolled in fairly late and exhausted after a long drive and it was super convenient to not have to deal with a lobby check-in. The room was exceptionally clean. Like down to the bathroom caulk and baseboards. The decor was spot-on for the original era of the motel, but also updated and on-trend. As a millennial, I loved it. There were plenty of hooks and storage for our luggage which is not as common in other places as you'd think. The bed was the most comfortable we'd slept in all week. Even though we aren't smokers or traveling with pets, it was a good sign that the smoking/doggie area was clean and free of litter. Oh and getting to back the vehicle up just a few feet away from our door was THE BEST. Seriously, after having to haul gear up stairs or across crowded parking lots all week, this felt like luxury at 11pm.
My constructive criticism isn't worth removing stars, but maybe worth the hosts' consideration. An in-person lobby would be a nice way to welcome guests coming in during business hours. Maybe a few items for a breakfast but not necessary. The AC unit was incredibly loud so we couldn't sleep with it in, making the room a bit toasty at night. The bathroom fan wasn't working but fortunately there was a window we could open to vent. I realize theft would probably be an issue, but it would have been a nice touch to add some educational and guide books about the area and parks. Maybe a way to check them out in the lobby?
Overall this was the best place we stayed on our entire road trip and we were actually a bit sad to only get to stay one night. This will definitely be our first choice when we return to Kanab...
Read moreWe stayed here for 1 night in September – the hotel is very quaint and looks nice from the outside. Check in was quick and friendly and we proceeded to our room. The room was of good size, very nicely decorated with a lovely modern bathroom with lodge branded amenities. The room was clean, and we had a cute little note on the pillow welcoming us. The hotel is nicely situated close to Downtown, a very short 2 min drive – or a short walk, there are also free bicycles to use as well - which is a great touch!
We annoyingly booked this hotel based on the nice photos on the booking websites, with one of the main highlights being the pool - however be warned, these photos are VERY deceivingly as it is much smaller in real life than made out on the photos. We sadly didn’t get time to check this out, and as there was already a couple using it – it looked full. It would be much nicer if there was also a hot tub.
The lodge is all single storey, so there is no noise from above, however the floor in our bedroom was wooden, so did creak a lot – our bed was also very creaky – but comfortable. The air con in our room was effective, but very loud!
Sadly, after going out for dinner and returning, someone had taken the car parking space right outside our room, luckily there was 1 other spot available which we had. A short time later, the vehicle in the spot outside our room left, but without this other spot – we would have been stuck with nowhere to park. Ideally the spaces outside each room should be allocated to each room, with markings on the space to ensure guests have a spot to park.
We were told by Front Desk at check in that there would be a grab and go breakfast available, we checked out just before 11 but there was no evidence of this in the Reception room which was a shame. There is an ice machine on site also which is handy.
Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would consider staying again if...
Read moreIve been here a few times now, i discovered them on Airbnb, and then my last visit I booked direct to support the business more. My top priorities with hotels is always going to be cleanliness and accuracy, then communication and customer service, then amenities added on to the room are usually something i just see as nice added touches. To start, if you want a space that is CLEAN, and has staff paying CLOSE attention to detail when preparing your room then this is your place. (And i hope they certainly keep this stabdard up going forward for sure)…. That says a LOT for a space that allows dogs, AND is located around all this red dust in the high desert. All three visits were excellent and the times i did have a slight, and i emphasize SLIGHT issue with something it was handled IMMEDIATELY and with urgency and they were so apologetic about the smallest things. Which shows they put great care into the space being comfortable for you. They realized i was a repeat guest and i requested the same room from my first visit each time and it was always basically immaculate upon arrival. Communication is great when you are checked in. A phone number to reach someone live directly between booking and arrival could be useful in some unique situations but overall communication is very easy via text and they strive to work with their guests. I also must mention the beds!!! I mean WOW, extra comfy, above what i would even expect. Not too firm and not too soft either. The nice added touches i enjoyed are the coffee maker, and having access to a mini fridge and microwave. The desk area is nice and storage is well appointed in the rooms. Overall very nice stay, it’s a nice little hidden gem! And easy access to various national parks. All basic needs are close by too like grocery,...
