Cute little coffeeshop with a nice terrace. The jury is still out at the moment as they are still very new and seem to have a lot of wrinkles to iron out. Visited on a sunny Saturday and there was a line out the door. The line moved a bit slow, but it appeared to be because of a combination of tight space and a few people waiting for their drinks to be remade. The placement of the bin, dish return, and sugar bar was directly to the left of the bar, making it difficult for people to utilize it when there was a line. Ordered a cappuccino for here, and it was given to me in a to-go cup. The Capp was decent and made me curious of the espresso used, as it was pretty light overall. The terrace, while lovely, could be attended to more, as one of the tables ended up being the collection table for everyone’s dishes that had come and gone. The staff member that was constantly bringing people their drinks on the terrace could have brought some of the dishes back inside each trip made to make the terrace more inviting. Other than the slight traffic noise, there was some speaker, notification system outside that was constantly going off. A few of us were wondering what it was and wish we could have turned it off after the 15th alert it gave. If you are looking for pastries, be sure to arrive early as they quickly sold out. I was definitely curious about the pastries as I did see a quite a few people not finish theirs. Was excited to see if any of the staff spoke or were French, and sadly none were during the visit. Overall, I think this place has some potential once they find their groove. I will wait a few more weeks and visit again, as I did find the shop to be...
Read moreIf you're looking to take cute pictures for Instagram, this is the place, with its bookstore vibes and outdoor patio reminiscent of Parisian cafes. However, you pay for the aesthetics. Coffee drinks are $6 minimum, when other great coffeeshops in KC charge $3-4 for a cappuccino or similar, and even no-tip places in the city charge less than $6. For $6 plus tip, it should have been the best cappuccino I've ever had, and it definitely was not. It was milky, not appropriately frothed, and I couldn't tell the difference between my cap and my partner's latte. The coffee beans are from Maps, and I found the drinks lacking in coffee flavor. The pastries are excellent, and that's because they are from Blackhole Bakery. I found that online, and it wasn't clearly marked that the pastries are not made in house. The pastries are also in the $6 range, which I found high. The service was fast but the layout of this place makes it very difficult to order with people walking through the line to access the utensils or dish bins. It's cramped and everyone is in each other's way. The patio was nice but there were not enough chairs per table so some people were standing or squatting. I won't be back because I can get better coffee elsewhere and get the pastries from...
Read moreI recently visited this cafe and overall had a pleasant experience. The food was delicious, the service was great, and the interior was clean and beautifully decorated. However, one major downside was the air conditioning—it was blasting so much that we were freezing. We had to grab blankets from the car, and even a hot cup of coffee didn’t warm us up enough.
As a modern mom on maternity leave who enjoys visiting stylish places with my stroller, I found the cafe not very stroller-friendly. There’s a staircase at the entrance with no ramp, and the door was located quite high, making it difficult to access with a stroller.
While the atmosphere and food were wonderful, it would be great if the cafe made some adjustments to better accommodate families with strollers and improved the temperature...
