The Blanc, opened in Oct and depending on where you elect to sit, the ambiance and vibe is quite different.
Make not on parking... We parked behind the building which was pay to park. The restaurant validates just remember your license plate number.
Upon entry, we waited without acknowledgement by the first hostess who walked away after speaking at length to a party of 2 ladies. Mercedes came moments later, greeted us then escorted us to our desired seating... because you shouldn't waste a nice sunny day inside when you can be outside on the roof! The path to it was lengthy. It's through the main dining area, through a door, into a building lobby area, pass a step n repeat where she so graciously took our pic, then through a secured door, up a few steps to an enclosed entrance to catch the elevator upstairs.
There is a rooftop to take advantage of. A laid back vibe with fitting decor. Seating: low & high tables with different types of chairs depending on the table you're seated at, a few couch & tables and on opposite the entrance a section with 2 wicker swing chairs and couch seating. Rooftop menu is minimal with select cocktails & wine offerings along with a handful of cold starters.
Main dining (1st floor) experience: To go back to main dining we went back to hostess desk after Anne called to check on availability. Mensa saw us as he walked by and seated us.
The setting is elegant meets trendy. There's two flowered walls, one with a neon sign in primary space close to the bar and the other in the divided room close to entry; behind the bar, a framed screen rotates displaying masterpiece paintings. Quite beautiful. On the other wall of main dining are couture type framed pictures. Seating in main dining is plush velvet chairs with marble like top tables.
The main dining menu is more expansive with pages of champagne, wine and cocktails along with vastly more cooked starters and 4 entree options. We ordered once Courtney was aware of our presence: me- fried chicken bites and truffle dusted fries & my mom - roasted salmon entree.
I devoured the chicken & fries. Both were extremely well seasoned and tasty. The fries weren't dusted my any means..they were saturated in flavor of truffleness! I think they'd be the best truffle fries I've had in awhile! My mom didn't enjoy the salmon. It was bland, void of any flavor except that it was salmon. Courtney checked on us frequently. My mom spoke up to tell her she didn't like her salmon, Courtney whisked the plate away, to "tell the chef". Courtney swung by a couple more times before the owner, Jordan came to apologize and offered to remove it from the bill and get something else like dessert.
My mom asked for a dessert options and selected the chocolate peanut butter pie. Oh my.. this was no ordinary pie. It was so good... peanut butter filling with chocolate crust.. simply too good, ingredients pop with the true flavors!
Upon getting the bill, there was confusion because the salmon entree ($32) was still on the bill but the pie ($12) was comped. Odd, as we thought the pie was replacing the salmon. In similar occasions this is typically what restaurants do. I asked for clarity; which was... it was an either/or option.. remove the salmon or getting something else... weird! Overall this ended as a not so great customer experience.
I will say Jordan was very friendly during our table interaction, we chatted about her choice on cup ware where distinctively plastic is used on the roof vs glass in main dining area, and on to go containers. She was extremely friendly and bubbly! Crazily enough, not knowing who she was but later recognizing her as the first hostess we saw when we...
Read moreI am writing to express my disappointment regarding the conclusion of my birthday brunch at your establishment yesterday. While the initial portion of our celebration was truly delightful – the service was impeccable, and the food and beverages were of exceptional quality – the abrupt manner in which we were dismissed left a lasting negative impression on me and my friends.
Our expectation, based on your esteemed reputation, was to enjoy a relaxed and celebratory meal without feeling pressured or rushed. Instead, we were quite taken aback to be informed, with minimal warning, that we needed to clear out our table within 15 minutes to accommodate another reservation. This explanation, while arguably valid from a scheduling perspective, felt profoundly insensitive, particularly considering the context of a birthday celebration – a special occasion we had deliberately chosen to share at your restaurant. The abruptness of the request and the lack of any attempt to mitigate the disruption severely undermined the positive aspects of our earlier experience.
We understand that managing reservations efficiently is crucial for any establishment, but believe a more considerate approach is essential. Perhaps alternative solutions, such as offering a complimentary dessert or drink to compensate for the inconvenience, or even a proactive conversation prior to the reservation's conclusion, could have mitigated the negative impact of the situation. Failing that, a simple, more empathetic explanation would have been appreciated.
The overall experience, while initially positive, was ultimately marred by this unfortunate incident. I hope you will consider my feedback as constructive criticism aimed at improving the overall dining experience for future...
Read moreUPDATE: Visited again with my girlfriends for a ladies brunch. Welp, you have new customers because they loved this spot!!
This time we indulged in decadent food that made us want to lick the plates!! The service was above par which was great for our group. We were hungry!!!
We need to come back & experience the rooftop vibes. Can’t wait to do that. This is a must stop spot whether ur visiting KC or living here. You won’t be disappointed!
This gorgeous bar screams boozy upscale vibes from the get go! The floral exterior set the vibe off before you even step your heeled stiletto inside!!
Like the idea of having a high curtain in the ‘waiting area’ to block out seeing guests in the area after the curtain. Also minimizes the cold air freezing or heating people while they eat.
The interior is stunning!! Pink & green go together & they took it to another level. The florals imprinted on the wall is the best attention to detail.
I didn’t try the food this time. My friend had the charcuterie board. It had a few meats & pickled veggies. I had The Duvall. It’s not too sweet & includes bubbles in it - which is the entire point of this place!
There are a plethora of pages to choose from from champs! Can’t wait to try some more options. This is a great stop on the way to elsewhere. Or spend your evening sipping champs & having small plates!
Reservations are strongly recommended. We were able to get in at 415p & had to leave by 5p due to the reservations. It was also restaurant week so...
