Mildred’s is one of my favorite places in the Crossroads for several reasons. It’s a family owned business. That continues to be passed down to future generations. The current owners are young, successful entrepreneurs who pride themselves on taking care of their employees and it is paying off BIG time!. Mildred's take-home pay has always been a living wage, and since 2022 they've been able to provide health insurance and 401k retirement benefits to their full-time employees.
From kcmo.gov/livingwage: "A living wage is the minimum income necessary for workers to meet their basic needs, which include food, housing and other essential needs such as clothing...
"The living wage differs from the minimum wage in that the latter is set by national law and can fail to meet the requirements to have a basic quality of life, leaving the family to rely on government assistance."
I am always so impressed with how professional and happy the staff are. They always go out of their way to provide excellent customer service! That is extremely rare these days! I genuinely LOVE going to any Mildred's location because it is so obvious that the employees truly enjoy their jobs! And that, my friends, speaks volumes about who is running the place! 🏆 4.The fact that their food is mouthwatering delicious is just an added bonus! I highly recommend the standard breakfast sandwich on the jalapeño cornbread. The breakfast potatoes are amazing! The biscuits and gravy are the best thing ever! And if you are gluten free, get the breakfast hash because it’s the next best thing to eating the actual...

Excellent as always! Their catch line “the best breakfast sandwich in the city” is absolutely true to the taste. We love coming for breakfast and spending part of the morning sitting outside with our coffee.
Mildred’s offers a great variety of breakfast sandwich options to chose from, all under $10 and well worth it with fresh ingredients. Yesterday, we went with the Chipotle Breakfast Wrap with eggs, bacon, potatoes, cheese and a chipotle aioli wrapped in a flour tortilla; and the Biscuit and Sausage Gravy with potatoes. Both dishes were ‘spot on’ and tasty. Last week, we had the Guacamole Toast on toasted sourdough bread and Vegetarian Sandwich with eggs, Swiss cheese, tomato, spinach and guacamole on a toasted bread and a side of fresh fruit. Week before we tried the, etc. - you get the drift - always a great variety of choices and all equally tasty. And plenty of coffee options to chose from.
The breakfast, ambiance and service is amazing. Always...
Read moreMildred's has a stronghold on my Saturday mornings when I'm craving a solid breakfast. Their breakfast sandwich and biscuits & gravy are my go-tos because the consistency in their bread and biscuits are simply unmatched! So fluffy and delicious. Every bite in the biscuits & gravy packs a ton of flavor! Not overly greasy at all like I usually see.
Mildred's offers plenty of caffeinated and non-caffeinated drinks as well as baked goods. Do yourself a favor and grab the cinnamon roll on your way to checkout! Heat it up in their microwave for about 12 seconds and your tastebuds will never forget the experience.
There are a couple of booths and tables available as well as a community table. I've always gone here on a bustling Saturday morning around 11 AM, but managed to always find seating for 2. There is street parking around the area and another larger location closeby. A nice little spot downtown, Mildred's is my staple for a quick...
