Shang's Tea House — Restaurant in Kansas City

I really liked this place and the teas I got to sample. I bought four them to take home. Two White tea Puerh, a Jasmine Snow Dragon, and lastly a Tangerine Blossom Red Tea. I love the white and the jasmine. However, I am very disappointed with the Tangerine Blossom. the tea I saw at the sampling had pretty flowers in it and mine does not. It is just tea leaves. there is no absolutely no citrus flavor to the tea. It just tastes like high quality green tea.( Not a fan of green tea) It has no red hue to it that denotes it as a red tea. It is just a nice shade of green. I feel these guys should know what labels they are sticking on their teas. I also think that a lot of the teas, while good, are a bit over priced. One White Tea cake costs $100+, but the site my Cantonese friend lead me too has it for $17+ with differing varities. The guy, who was super nice, I feel was telling a few rather large exaggerated fibs to get people to buy his products. All I have to say is, buyer beware when you enter this shop. Not everything you buy in there is worth the outrageous price they put on it. Most assuredly, if it comes to the Tangerine Blossom tea.

Update: Never was notified of a response. Dude, you really don't know what your people are serving and it shows. I got the tea based on seeing it served to me and taste testing it. It most definitely had flowers IN the loose leaf. The gentlemen who served me the tea said it was suppose to have a citrus flavor and it did when I taste tested it. Unless none of you know your products as I mentioned before. It is very clearly OVERPRICED. Also, since I gave that review I did indeed confirm that the man selling me the tea was in fact out right...

I am a repeat customer and have been purchasing tea (in person and online) from Shang for more than 12 years. Shang sells the best tea I have ever had the pleasure to imbibe! These teas, unlike other teas I have consumed, are truly superb and so flavorful and high quality that I never add any sweetener, milk, or other adulterant. Have been here more than once. I Love this little place. The owner, Shang, really puts his heart into it and you really get to experience the dim sum concept of mastering a few simple items. I stress mastering, they're the best dishes I've had.

Have had the dumplings, bean sprout salad, Shang's chicken & rice and tea eggs from dim sum menu, all are amazing and pricing is very modest for the quality you get. You can leave full and happy under $10 a person, feeling like you paid $40 a person. You also feel healthy after also, all ingredients are organic and non gmo.

As far as tea, all I've tried so far is high quality, good flavor, can usually get 3-4 good pulls from a single measure depending on my timing. It's a little expensive as ive seen others say, but is completely worth the extra couple dollars and honestly $20 for 2oz of his special reserve green tea is a great deal if you ask me. Their jasmine white tea is fragrant and blissful. The peony white tea is delicate and clean. Their tangerine red has a very bold flavor complemented by tangerine blossom and is best I've ever had.
