My husband and I have enjoyed SPIN! pizza in other locations so when we had the opportunity to go at Crown Center we didn't think twice. The food, as with every other location, was delicious. We really love the different and interesting options available for toppings and sauces.
However the front counter service at this location was horrible the day we went. We went the Sunday after Thanksgiving and while I know that is a busy time for Crown Center. However this restaurant didn't seem overly packed. There were several tables available and the line was only five parties deep. Each party was four people or fewer. It took us 35 minutes to get to the counter to order. There was one young man running both registers and while he never seemed flustered or overwhelmed, he also didn't display any urgency or make any effort to speed up the process.
Meanwhile back in the kitchen area there were three people on the pizza/cook line and they were working steadily. Otherwise there were four employees that just seemed to be... Floating around? Doing... Something?
It wasn't helping with to-go orders because our front register guy was doing all of that. Same with gelato service.
It wasn't helping with the bar top customer because the two people sitting there looked absolutely miserable sitting there with no food or drinks to be seen the entire time we were in line.
And it wasn't bussing tables because by the time we put in our order and went to meet the rest of our party - there were five tables that were covered in pizza platters, plates, napkins, glasses, and crumbs.
Our party needed a larger table and none were clean.
Luckily the staff had left a wet table rag out on a table. So I bussed a table and wiped it down myself. That got the attention of the staff that was just kind of... existing? They came out while I did that and tried to intervene but it was too late. I was already almost done.
I will say after that they were much quicker to get us what we needed (water, to-go boxes, side of ranch, etc) but it was disappointing it took THAT to get their attention.
I've worked in and managed those types of environments before so I know there are many moving parts and things change quickly - but this experience truly baffled me. While I was in line for over half and hour I spent the majority of the time watching the staff trying to figure out what exactly was going on and I never figured it out.
I sure hope this was just a one time fluke because we love SPIN in general and like taking out of town guests to Crown Center. It is an easy place most people agree to eat at but after this experience I would probably go to another restaurant just to...
Read moreMy family and I have been here twice in the past month for lunch and we’ve had at least one issue both times.
The first time we were here the food and service was great. My only complaint was that the staff sat my husband and I in the back corner when we had our 7 month old daughter in her stroller. Rather than sit us at the open booth in the front, I had to navigate a narrow 30 foot aisle with her stroller to get to our table. Not a huge deal, but pretty inconvenient.
The second time we arrived at noon (granted it was probably the busiest day of the year for them, the day before Christmas Eve) and seating wasn’t an issue as it was seat yourself. We had two issues this time. The first one being that they were an hour past opening and already out of at least the meatball sub. It’s my favorite dish there so I was disappointed but ordered a chicken Caesar salad. My family ordered a pizza, and two mini Mia’s with salads and pizzas. We found a convenient seat and waited. And waited. And waited. It took literally an hour to get our food. Then when food did come, 3/4 of my family got their food while I was left still waiting for my salad. About 10 minutes later, after we’d said something to our waiter for the third time, my food finally arrived.
The manager did comp the entire bill but only after we pushed back when he offered a partial comp. I love Spin, truly. The food is always good so I’m willing to give this location another chance. Just wanted to let people know to be prepared for extremely slow service...
Read moreMy friends and I went ice skating at Crown Center and after walked over to SPIN! Pizza for a bit to eat. I really have no complaints for establishment it's self, but no one left full. I bought 3 large (advertised as a 14 inch) pizzas for us all to share, and $70 later, no one was satisfied. I suppose I didn't get the memo that it was a personal pizza place, which is fine, but those pizzas were not 14 inches. I didn't have a physical measuring tool on hand, but using my iPhone's (relatively accurate) measuring app, I determined that my pizza was in fact 10 and a half inches. The box it came in was 14 inches, but I'm paying for the pizza, not the box. They likely use a set amount of dough for each pizza, and sometimes just don't get it stretched correctly, which is understandable. I would like to say that despite the feeling that I payed too much for too little, the manager there was quite stellar. I don't know their name, but I would like to say that every manager should be more like that. They offered me a free pizza, which helped to insure that most of us got a second piece. Seriously, that was really nice. The pizzas themselves were very good, from what I got to eat. All and all, I had a great experience there, and think I was just used to some other pizza places like Providence Pizza in Grandview, which has bought food for a group like that for about the same price. Again I do want to point out the management, and I...
