Horrendous service…I let it slide once…twice…and go figure the third time the moment I walked in the door I was told I couldn’t be seated bc I was alone? Or bc I had a backpack? Idk I was questioned whether or not I had been in there already today? No I had not….I am an avid MTB rider. I work for the federal government…Friday’s are the start of my weekend and payday. I ride my $1000+ MTB everywhere bc I am halfway to 40 and still appear to be a tall college age lean, mean, and very capable machine by simply choosing to ride my bike basically everywhere being in the city…Glory to god….that being said I usually have a backpack. I try to ride various trails in the downtown area when I have a day off so granted maybe I’m not perfectly spotless and dressed to impress God forbid…after convincing her I had most definitely not been in there at all today or any day for at least a month I sat at the bar and rather than sit there with all eyes on me as if I was going to dash on my bill like the first two times when I essentially was given my bill immediately to make sure I paid first before eating…how am I supposed to decide what kind of tip I give my server if I have to pay before I’ve been given a chance to get any service and make sure the food was quality? I’ll bet my life nobody else gets their bill immediately the moment the food arrives since the first two times were so bad and the third I was met with immediate maltreatment I was left to get my food to go and ate with flimsy plastic eatery in the parking lot rather than be treated with dubiousness and watched like a hawk like I’m some kind of thief….like I said not once, not twice, but three times in a matter of 2 months…I never leave reviews unless it’s truly atrocious or a exceptional service so if I’m leaving one star trust me you’ve messed up...
Read moreWent here with my boyfriend to celebrate with a New Year's Eve brunch meal and was very happy with the experience. He ordered the Brunch Burger and I ordered the Pancake platter.
The waitress was very friendly and attentive, service was relatively fast as well.
The Brunch Burger was enormous - had to be held together with a steak knife when it came to the table. It was especially filling and the fries that came with it were -fire-. It was a little messy eating it but worth the mess of the burger falling apart.
The pancakes were also very large and delicious as well. Hash browns and eggs were cooked perfectly, and the bacon was good. My only complaint is that the sausage patty was slightly overcooked, but the rest of the meal was tasty enough for it to be overlooked.
We were filled all day from the meal and didn't have to eat again until late that night. It was a very satisfying amount of food for comparable prices one would pay at IHOP. Between the two, I'd choose The Big Biscuit any day. We'll definitely return in the future when we're looking for a filling treat.
Edit 6/8/23: This location is definitely going downhill. Ordered takeout today and the lady working the carry out counter was extremely rude? Demanded a name like she was inquiring about an order already placed, and then copped an attitude when I said I haven't placed an order yet. How about try "Can I get a name for your order" instead of getting snippy over a question? It's not hard.
The last few visits prior had very hit or miss service as well. I don't know what's going on but it seems like at least half the wait staff hate their job and take it out on the customers. Honestly...
Read moreFirst off, I am from Arizona, and we don't have The Big Biscuit in my city, but if we did, easily would say one of my go-to breakfast places. I don't write many reviews outside my state, but I felt this place deserves to be recognized. Anybody who is visiting Kansas City, try this place out!
The atmosphere is very relaxing and probably one of the best customer services I have seen. I was immediately greeted by the manager, Dan. He recommended some things off the menu and took the time to share what's on the menu.
I had Alison for my server (newly promoted manager, congratulations, and well deserved from our interactions, you are going to be a great manager). Alison also took the time to review the menu and shared what has been popular lately in case I was interested. Friendly and attentive to my food orders and always check to make sure I have my water filled and food was up to satisfaction.
On that note, compliments to the cook, Stacy! I have to say, I never thought hash browns could be better, but he made them so good and the perfect level of crisp! The strawberry "bonut" biscuit in French toast batter that is like a donut, a bonut! Loved it! Went well with my coffee. It's not super sweet, even with powdered sugar. I also ordered the two eggs and sausage patties. A bite of eggs mixed with Stacy's hash browns,... omg. That's all I gotta say.
Thank you, Stacy, Alison, and Dan, for an amazing experience, and I love the teamwork I saw while dining here. The Big Biscuit has something special here that just...
