Chick-In Waffle — Restaurant in Kansas City

It had been a long day, long week, and the universe had not been as friendly with me for sometime. Today, was the 1st day in a long time that i had spend and enjoy with my little one... We were exhausted. We had already showered, and woth the high summer heat, my toddler and I were both in minimal clothes just relaxing and watching a movie.

We were both tired but hungry at the same time. Something I rarely do is order through doordash or Uber eats... This night was an exception. It felt more of a hassle to head out to pick up food.

I spent about 15-20 minutes browsing and deciding, not to mention another 20 trying to place an order through doordash, only to find out that I need to download the app, create a sign in, going through verification of phone number and email, only for the page to not give me a confirmation of the food I had ordered....i figured something was wrong with the page or app. I decided to swap over to uber eats and struggled as well. I believed I had placed the order twice before attempting to contact Uber's customer service. I stopped to call the actual store to try to cancel one of the orders. This is when I spoke to Apollo, I was frustrated because by now it had been about an hour and a half and I still hadn't placed an order, only to find out from the store manager only that they didn't even receive my order at all.

I knew it wasn't the stores fault, but I still proceeded to vent and express my frustration and the time that I had already spent trying to order food for delivery. I proceeded to explain that my toddler was falling asleep and that I needed to make sure she didn't go to bed without dinner because I knew she was hungry. I also explained that I didn't want to go through the trouble of getting proper clothes on to head out in public, dress my toddler, load her onto the carseat, cage the pets only to headout to pick up food, which is why i was trying the food delivery service to the doorstep.

I can't thank Apollo enough for listening patiently to me. For grasping that I felt that my night was beginning to turn sour wothout me expressing that outloud. When I told him I was willing to still come and pick up food, if he was willing to take my order over the phone, he explain he was willing to run out to my car to take my payment and hand me my food. This way I didn't have to completely redress myself and unload my child from the car. It took me 10min to get there, When I was outside, I was greeted with the best and most compassionate smile from Apollo, he brought my food, wished me a safe night and didnt even let me tip him. I realiized that a tip would never compensate the priceless act of restoring someone's evening back to a positive one.

I’ve been twice and both experiences were great. The first time, I got the Spicy Chick. It wasn’t very spicy but a great flavor! It was a combination of siracha and syrup. It would have been even better if the sauce was a little thicker. The chicken could have used a little more seasoning and I didn’t like how the chicken sitting on top of my waffle made that area soggy. But the other parts of the waffle were delicious! It was crunchy were it should have been but also airy and being able to break it off ball by ball was so cute. Customer service was good, food came out in a reasonable amount of time and the bathroom was clean. The sitting space is small so I can only imagine how crowded it gets on the weekend.

On the second visit, my friends got the Chick-in Maple combo and Chili Cheese Fries. They both enjoyed their dishes. I tasted the fries and thought they were really good. I decided to go the sweet route and chose The Churro. It was FANTASTIC!!! The cashier said it was going to be a sweeter version of the waffle, but it wasn’t. That’s ok because it was loaded it other sweet things…ice cream, caramel and Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereal. Reliving that moment might make me go back for...

We were craving comfort food and found this gem. Cozy and quiet setting. Outstanding service! The food is 🤤. We ordered Chick-IN Maple, Fries with Cheese sauce, Wings (Asian Chili) and fries, and a waffle bite for desert. Chick-IN Maple came with a BUBBLE WAFFLE! Never had anything like it, so light and fluffy, and melt in your mouth. The chicken was cooked to perfection with just the right amount of crunch. When paired together with the syrup it was delightful 🤤. The cheese fries were, as she put it “cheese soup with fries”which means outstanding. Wings were so crispy, sweet, and flavorful! Fries were so spot on with texture. And the desert! A totally different waffle. Dense, crunchy , dusted with cinnamon, sugar, and powdered sugar 🤤. We could’ve eaten a half dozen but we’d had to be wheeled out. We will return very soon with more friends. More entrees to experience. But the desert menu. There is a churro waffle! And many others. This place is legit and a must try for comfort...
