1-07-2025 I still have reservations about the location but the shop is quaint, nicely set up and has fun décor. The coffee was fresh and the owner/barista, Christian was very friendly and his enthusiasm was contagious. The prices are very competitive.

1-20-25 I returned with my mother and had a frustrating experience. My mother uses a wheelchair so I thought this would be a nice place to take her for a snack. We live on the same street so I thought this was going to be convenient. The back entrance does have a wheel chair ramp but it is not east to pass over the threshold. The inside is not really set up for wheel chair access. It is a very small location because they converted a small two bedroom house in a residential neighborhood in to a coffee shop. Trying to maneuver her to the register was impossible so I had to park her and go ahead to order. There were new faces this time and I believe they were training on the register and barista systems. I ordered a latte, mocha, two sweet and one savory pastries. ($27.84) There really was no place for us to sit together so I had to awkwardly park her next to a couch. There was a small end table next to the couch but it had so much stuff on it that using it was awkward. When our drinks and pastries came out they were handing them all to me and there was really no where to put them. Each pastry and the late were served on a rectangular concave plate. I was trying to balance our pastries, my latte and my moms mocha on one tiny cluttered end table and then accommodate my mother. Mom's mocha was too hot for her to drink right away. I moved a chair next to her to act as a table. I tried to make the best of it but it was not ideal for anyone including the guests around us. In retrospect I should have asked for everything to go or just left. I briefly spoke to Christian as we were leaving. He had to re-arrange furniture to maneuver the chair out of the door. Active Coffee had recently hung a large electric sign on their 4th st side and they keep it on 24/7 along with a strong of lights. I told the owner that the light does shine all night and that my bedroom window is facing the light and it is affecting the darkness of our street and my room. He said he considering adding a solar sensor but the city of Katy approved the sign so he doesn't have to turn it off. I am having a hard time liking this business that inserted itself on to a residential street when they host loud parties, aren't wheelchair friendly and aren't considerate of their neighbors in our neighborhood. I will put some of that on city of Katy officials who sit on the boards that approved this location. I am adjusting my rating based on these two visits. #needsimprovement 1-29-2025 The sign is...

For real coffee drinkers: My girlfriend and I had been coffee shop hopping all morning to find a place that could make good espresso. We threw away four cups of coffee before stopping here. These were the first drinks we finished. I was very impressed. Served with sparkling water. They know their coffee.

For social folks: great atmosphere, good amount of seating for a smaller place. Super friendly owner, Chris. We got to hear the whole story about how he opened the shop and what their mission is. "Community" is the name of the game around ACS (active coffee shop)

For artsy folks: Chris has a friend who is a painter and is selling a bunch of artwork on the walls (all painted with coffee as a medium)... honestly I could have shown up just to appreciate the artwork.

Chris, thanks for a wonderful coffee experience, my girlfriend and I aren't local to Katy, but I have lots of family in the area, so we will...

Came in here on a whim since it’s one of the few coffee shops that closes a little later and I’m so glad I did. The ambiance was incredible and the staff is so kind and excited to talk about their menu! I ordered an oat-milk matcha with raspberry puree and my sister got a caramel cold brew. They were both delicious! We got to speak with the owner as well and he was very nice! He mentioned the coffee shop hosts yoga (I think he said free but not 100% sure) and some calisthenics classes. I love supporting small businesses and especially those that give back to their community which this one very much does! We sat outside and were so happy to see the tables have umbrellas to shield from the sun. Also, love that they didn’t get ride of the trees in the backyard since it offers more shade! Will definitely come back!

This coffee shop is more than just a place to grab a great cup of coffee—it's a warm, welcoming space that feels like home. The coffee is absolutely excellent, crafted with care and rich in flavor. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, making it the perfect spot to relax or catch up with friends. What truly sets this place apart is the incredible Chris and Sofia. Their passion and vision for the future are inspiring, as they are working toward creating opportunities for individuals with special needs to be part of the team. This mission adds an extra layer of meaning to every visit, making it a place you’ll want to support again and again. If you’re looking for a coffee shop with outstanding drinks, a friendly vibe, and a heartwarming purpose, this is it! Highly recommended!
