El Tiempo Cantina — Restaurant in Katy

• Update 8/14/23 After contacting them via email, El Tiempo corporate responded promptly and assured me that this is not their policy and that the issue will be addressed. I appreciate their prompt response and assurance that they will address the issue. * The food here is okay. Nothing horrible, but nothing spectacular. My complaint however, does not pertain to the food. We just dined here today because I had birthday coupon. At the end of the meal, I showed our waiter the coupon on my phone. He took my phone to the back to scan the coupon barcode. When he returned my phone to me, I noticed it was no longer open to the coupon email. Instead it was opened to my email trash folder, which had been completely emptied. His manager had, without my permission, gone into my email account and deleted the original coupon email, as well as a copy that I had forwarded to my husband to suggest that we go there, and proceeded to delete my entire trash folder. While I understand the manager’s reasoning for wanting the email deleted so it couldn’t be used again, he had no right to do so without asking permission first. Not to mention the fact that he could have permanently deleted emails that were in my trash folder by mistake. The fact that he went into my email account, beyond the coupon email that I presented, to me is a complete violation of privacy. When I spoke to the manager, he simply said “sorry” and that this is what he normally does, and that he wouldn’t do it again. I was unconvinced. Had he simply asked me first, I wouldn’t have hesitated to delete the emails and show him. But his policy of going into customers’ email accounts and deleting messages without permission should not...

We normally dine at the League City location which is always top notch, I wish I could say the same for the Katy location. We went here for a birthday dinner. The atmosphere at this location is pretty underwhelming to say the least. It feels very dusty in there, like it hasn't been deep cleaned in awhile. The bathrooms needed attention too. We had a large group of people so they used some table connector thing which made the table uneven resulting in my water spilling all over my lap. While our server was very friendly the service was VERY slow and our order came out incorrectly. The water, omg the water...it literally tasted like toilet water. It was the consensus at our table of 10 that the water was not potable. The manager comes to our table and says " What's wrong? you don't like the water? What do you want?" My friend and I both politely asked for bottled water. "We don't have that, I can give you a topo" We both disapointedly declined and he just walked away. His attitude was very nonchalant. He didn't apologize or try to make it right beyond that. Then to top it off our server got the checks wrong and double charged our card with the larger amount! So we sat there for another 30 minutes while she figured it out. Terrible dining experience. We spent $200 for fajitas for two, 4 drinks and a kids pizza. The pizza was cleary microwaved, my seven year old (who is not picky) declined it. Me and my seven year old both sat up with stomach cramps that night. I am giving two stars for the 2 spicy margaritas that got me through this dining experience. I would never return to...

They brought out chips and pan dulce and I thought I would like this place...then we ordered our food. I ordered a Large Breakfast Taco with eggs, bacon, potatoes, and cheese. My little one ordered the Large Breakfast Taco with bacon and eggs. They brought us two Large Breakfast Tacos with bacon and eggs. I told them this was incorrect, that one should have been eggs, bacon, cheese, and potatoes. Marco, (our server) repeated it back. He told us to keep the wrong Taco and he would bring back the correct order. He brought back a Large Breakfast Taco with eggs, beans, and potato. I told him it was wrong and told him again that I wanted eggs, bacon, cheese, and potato. He repeated it back, but it didn't sound right. I then told him in Spanish, which he repeated back. He then took the extra bacon and egg taco back and left the second wrong taco. He then brought me a egg, potato, and cheese taco with beans on the side. I informed him yet again that this was incorrect. I told him it was missing bacon. He then brought me bacon on a side plate and said I could keep the beans. I don't know why he didn't write anything down, but his memory is obviously not good enough to just remember the order. Not sure how well this visit reflects the whole staff, but it ruined my first visit. The egg was also pretty bland and the bacon seemed to be of low quality. The pan de huevo was good, but the cookies were flavorless and the gingerbread pig was old and tough to chew,...
