If you are reading this review, the punchline beyond what they offer (ice cream), is how friendly and warm an atmosphere this place has.
Ice cream is a ubiquitous delight of many, and this vibrant parlor is a great place to enjoy a delicious lick of your favorite flavor. It has two sections, one side is a very well appointed cocktail/dessert bar, and the other a traditional ice cream stand with some unique combinations. On a recent trip I sat outside and was treated with superb service by a very friendly Kamryn. Her cheer and warm attitude made me go with her recommendation - Baked Alaska. It was a great choice; an amazing blend of citrus chiffon cake, meringue and goat cheese blackberry chambord ice cream. One can’t go wrong with this signature dessert offered here.
I didn’t quite stop there and decided to go all in with my sugar rush, and also tried a very special flavor they have created - called the Speculoos. It is a crafty mix of biscoff ice cream and chocolate pretzels. It is a creation of Olivia who is very proud (rightfully so) of the special treat, which according to her has a 10:1 ratio of ice cream to biscoff.
The very inviting and pleasant vibe of this establishment is a tribute to the owner Lauren. She sets the tone and runs the place with great zeal and passion. I would be remiss not to mention some of the other very pleasant staff I encountered on my last trip there, Mia P and Mia B and Andrea.
Make this a stop on your trip to Kennebunkport and you will be very pleasantly...
Read moreTL;DR: worth a special stop. The only reason this isn't a 4.9/5 star place is some one off no explanation 1 star reviews that seemingly are for the ice cream shop next door (and likey not deserved).
Perfect Rococo vibes coupled with amazingly high quality desserts that are unique in their selection and deliver in the details. Absolutely worth a stop as this exceeded our expectations. The Cake & Caviar plate delivers an assortment of perfect bites and balance throughout. If you think potato chips, caviar, sweet & salty ice cream, olive oil cake, and persimmons don't pair well then you haven't tried it. The Morir Soñando float was far more complex than your average creamsicle bouncing between zesty orange notes, honey sweetness, rich evaporated milk, and crisp carbonated orange deliciousness. Finally the baked Alaska (bearing the name of the establishment and thus a must try) executes the details perfectly: perfect merengue peaks with just the right texture, a creamy and flavor-deep goat cheese blackberry chamboard ice cream with accompanying sauce dashes which delighted, all resting on a base of moist delicious cake. Not cheap, but with...
Read moreThe staff at Rococo really went above and beyond last night for my bachelorette party. We were a group of 11, so I assumed that we wouldn’t be able to fit in the dessert bar because it’s a pretty intimate space. However, we got ice cream at the scoop shop earlier in the day and popped into the dessert bar to ask if they thought they’d be able to accommodate us. The woman we talked to was so sweet and told us that they most likely would be able to fit us on the patio if we came after dinner. When we came back at night we only had to wait a few minutes for a party to leave and then the staff rearranged the tables for a perfect space for us outside. They also add lamps and flowers to the outdoor tables at night which really elevates the patio from daytime ice cream vibes to cocktail bar vibes. Our cocktails and desserts were all absolutely delicious! I had the creamy espresso martini and chocolate cake and they were both unique takes on classics, which I really enjoyed. It was the perfect place to end our night. I wouldn’t come assuming they can always fit big groups, but I really appreciate that they made it...
