I was really excited to Gus's as it's really close to our home and well.......I love me some fried chicken. 😋

The 3 ⭐ review is mostly because the service was EXCELLENT. The staff was very friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive as this was our first visit and we had a little longer wait than normal.

The food however was was pretty disappointing. The greens, fried green tomatoes, fried okra, fried pickle slices and even the fried chicken lacked seasoning and flavor. The fried chicken was nice in that it was crispy, juicy, and had some heat on the back end despite it's lack of seasoning. The staff made sure to tell us they use cayenne pepper in their batter so their bone in chicken is a little on the spicy side (which we don't mind). He also told us their tenders have less cayenne so they're less spicy but we didn't try the tenders.

Prices were reasonable. The location is convenient as it's on Main Street in downtown Kennesaw.

Note to staff/management: The lights on the sign were turned on so we almost didn't stop as we thought they were closed but noticed there were people seated inside.

I'm all for 2nd chances but I doubt we'll be visiting Gus's again any time soon based on our...

Being from Memphis, we love Gus's fries chicken but this experience may keep us from returning. First, the only nearby parking is across the street and runs$7.65/hr. Second, we were seated right away and then completely ignored for 20 minutes. We asked someone to assist us and she said our server would be right out. He came out minutes later, checked on everyone around us then left without saying a word to us. Most tables seemed to be waiting a while for assistance but weren't completely ignored. We decided at that point to go to the take out area and place an order to go. After 36 min inside the restaurant we were given our take out order only to discover it was filled incorrectly. 3 min later they assured us it had been corrected and we left. Hopefully after the 30 min drive home, it will be worth eating. UPDATE: after arriving home and regarding the chicken in our air fryer, it was still delicious. We also discovered that the gentleman that filled our order had quietly included several additional pieces of chicken. We appreciated his efforts to make up for the...

Drove from Anniston, AL to this location for lunch. Received the cold shoulder when we got there. Waitress acted like we were an inconvenience even though the place was empty. No specials, was told they don’t have the family meal we always get in Birmingham, was told they didn’t have tenders and their prices were higher than in Birmingham also.

We go to the Birmingham frequently. Enough so they are dropping out chicken and fried green tomatoes as soon as we walk in the door. The place has heart and soul, and we always feel welcome and like family in Birmingham.

If this location, Kennesaw, was my first experience with Gus’ fried chicken I would never go back. As it is we walked out after offering to pay for the sweet teas we had ordered. If I were the owner of this franchise location, I would send my staff to Birmingham to learn how to gain and retain repeat customers.

Oh, and just for the record, I have 20+ years in the service industry as a cook and chef, so I do know a thing or two about customer service, and what we...

We came In on Sunday morning because the line at the biscuit place next door was out the door . So we decided to try it . Service was good food was good . I got 3pc dark meat with beans and slaw, my wife got 3 tenders also with beans and slaw . Beans and slaw both were good but beans were probably straight out of the can and slaw may have been house made . One thing though, the chicken was a little spicy as if it had been dipped in hot sauce before the batter which was kinda bland itself. The kind of batter you might get on onion rings. We're not fans of hot and spicy foods and this wasn't unbearable but the Mrs will be hitting the Tums later. I didn't see anything on the menu saying there would be heat and I know that you can't be a food aficionado nowadays if you can still feel your tongue after you eat but there are some of us who like flavor not just heat. This would be considered not spicy at all by many. Overall the food was good prices like every place are up there ( get used to that) but just be ready for a little spice.

My rating is because of the service. I was acknowledged by a server upon entrance and told to head to the counter for carryout service where I stood and was ignored first by the woman assigned to the counter and a 2nd time by the same server who directed me to the counter. The server took over register duties and proceeded to help a man who came in after me. Finally, she takes my to go order. I'm told it will be 15 minutes. I go outside to wait and around 10 minutes later I see the customer who placed the order before mine leaving with his order. I go back to the counter for pickup. The cook has already placed an open to go container on the back counter and announces it's hot and to get it out! I stand waiting and hear the cook announce 2 more times that to go orders are getting cold! I had to ask the server was that my order and was it still hot? Of course, she gives the huff n puff with the eye roll. I was there for the chicken and it was okay. The beans were mushy and the cole slaw runny and bland.
