The good part: Ash was a great chef. It was nice to hear new jokes instead of the same things from the past several years. He is the only reason we tipped. The food was good for me.
We Came to celebrate my fiancés birthday. While I myself have worked at several hibachi restaurants and we also frequent them, we had never been to wasabi since it rebranded from shogun. When we walked in there was no one at the host stand so we set down for about 5 minutes before someone came out and asked if we had been helped yet. When we got to the table there were already others sat. Both groups were kind and said they had been there about 10 minutes. When the server came she took our drink order but walked off before we could say the appetizer . We sat for about 15 more minutes.
While everything that happened next isint entirely the restaurants fault I’m going to state the whole scene so perspective is given. A mother was then added to our table about 25 minutes into waiting with her two children under 5. She then proceeded to pull out an iPad and blast bluey for the entirety of the meal while her kid sat there coughing consistently on my fiance and was clearly sick. A mother has a right to a life and sometimes kids are just going to be kids . That being said, she should have been at a different table with the time span waited already.
It took 3 times to get the servers attention to put in our appetizer order because she kept coming to the table and then immediately walking away after asking if the water was full without a chance to say anything else.
The chef came out after about 30 minutes. I understand hibachi has a wait but that’s ridiculous . When the chef did come out we had to say the correct orders because what the server wrote down for us and half the rest of the table was wrong
Then we found out that because my fiance has a seafood allergy, his food would instead be made in the back… we wouldn’t have sat at a hibachi table if we knew the food was going to be made in the back
When the server came back a couple minutes later she was like “oh yeah they’re gonna make your food in the back” to which my fiance asked why they didn’t say that up front and he also asked how they were cooking his steak since she never asked. Instead of responding she just nervously laughed.
I got up to find another server and asked him too please make sure the order was correct in the back and told him that my fiance would like his steak well done. After a while of sitting and watching the chef cook We then had to remind the server we never got the appetizer to which she apologized and said “they should be working on it now” and proceeded to immediately bring it a minute later. It’s obvious she forgot.
Then the chef finished cooking for the table and we had to remind the server we were also still waiting on his main food to which the server responded “they should be finishing that now” even the other people at the table looked at her sideways at this point. Guess what then came out less than a minute later ice cold?
Apologies work better than lies but I can understand her not really knowing what to say after the third mistake.
Also most hibachi places simply cook seafood last when there’s a seafood allergy. While I understand things might be different at a newer place , it again should have been addressed before we had our appetizers and the chef already came to the table.
Anyway as soon as my fiance did get his plate, The sick little kid next to him turned and coughed directly into his plate . We boxed or food Went to the front to pay And left
There’s also no alcohol but I’m sure they will get a license with time. We will not be back tho and the first thing my fiance did when he got home was call his friend and tell him to...
Read moreOk so at first I was not going to go. There was a similar place at this building before this restaurant and I was not happy with that old. Anyways, I am super glad we did go in. The atmosphere was very nice on the inside. A nice clean modern feel. The hibachi section was filled with people laughing and having a great time. The sushi looked great although I didn't get any for myself. But the other people at the table did and it looked picture perfect. They also said it was delicious along with the dumplings. Now, the Hibachi. Baaaaabbbyyy that hibachi omg so good. Let me start with our super cool and amazing waiter, Sean! He was super attentive to the table kept the refills coming and gave great suggestions. Now chef Ash aka chef Boyardee. He was absolutely amazing. He was funny, very talented, and took special care with the food especially since someone at our table had a shrimp allergy. I feel like everyone else was lowkey jealous of our table. That's how much fun we were having with our chef. The rice oh yeah of course I had to get double rice. I ordered the Filet and Salmon. Filet was so tender that I am going to enjoy heating up my leftovers. The Salmon OMGGGGG that salmon. If Chef Boyardee aka Ash is reading this, to did your thing on my salmon. It was so tender and just melted in my mouth. Shrimp was delicious. All around everything from the staff, to the food, to the entertainment was just awesome. I will definitely be back and I will try the sushi along with the hibachi of course. This was a great start hope it stays that way. And maybe add...
