First Watch — Restaurant in Kentucky

What happened? My daughter and I used to come here regularly. Got to know the staff and service was always quick, at least early in the morning. Food was fantastic, as someone who hates breakfast food that's saying something. Brought people from it of town there and they fell in love like we did. This was nearly a year ago.

Fast forward to last week when we officially decided we'd never go back. Staff is all new, last time got into a back and forth with a rude server who kept asking the same question over and over again and being given the only possible answer before slowing down and asking again. Again the same answer was given and suddenly he was able to understand, drugs is the only thing I can think of. Food was become EXTREMELY subpar at all hours of the day, trust me we've tried our best to figure out when this place is good and it just isn't. Ownership obviously changed due to the staff being all different, very clearly the new owner allowed race to determine staffing choices. The manager who used to walk around check on everyone is no longer there and the friendly staff was evidently let go due to the color of their skin. As much as I hate the new ownership I'm equally upset at previous ownership for allowing such a dramatic change. If ownership hadn't changed then someone along the lines stopped caring...

We visited the Hurstbourne location this morning with our 3 grandkids, this is our favorite location and it's very close to our home. I guess I should leave a review everytime we come because the service is always fantastic, the food is always great, the host team is always very welcoming and the place is always very clean, even when it's crazy busy but there was something special this morning, I guess it was having the kids with us. Our server was Cristina, she was so nice to us & the grandkids, she was patient, she made an effort to get the kids food to them quickly, I'm sure she understands hungry kids can become less than adorable angel's. I spoke with the person at checkout that I presume is the manager based on how she seemed to be leading the team, but since we felt that Cristina went so far above & beyond, we felt compelled to do the same & leave a review complementing her efforts. We left a much larger than usual tip because she really earned it and I hope this is seen by the First Watch management team and she & the team at Hurstbourne are recognized for doing such an...

The avacado is ripe! The food is high quality. Services fantastic. Reminds me of the way food used to taste when i was a child.... real flavor, not just the taste of preservatives.

This place is like, Panara, but a restaurant! All natural food is the standard.

At most restaurants, I taste the trip the food took to the location, the additives, the preservatives, and the disdain of the food preparer as they struggle to eek out a wage to pay the light bill.

In contrast, here, I TASTE the actual FLAVORS of the FOOD, and the care given to the choice of ingredients, that seems to indicate a desire to create, not just a dish, but an experience that only the true, original, unadulterated flavors of the dish, can create.

I sense a genuine dedication to the work, I applaud the entire crew!

Job well done!

If every restaurant in Louisville was as dedicated to the flavor, and experience, I would want to eat outside the house every day!

I've had $50/plate meals that pale by comparison!
