Five Guys — Restaurant in Kill Devil Hills

Hadn't been in Five Guys for a while, I was hesitant because of past experiences years earlier, also its the busiest time of year.. but I've discovered if you call in personally, not ordering online, that I wouldn't recommend, but call the local number.. its great, it was ready, I had no wait, it could be picked up with no hassle, also a recommendation " don't pay over the phone, easier and no mistakes to be made inside at pick-up.. of course the order was not complicated, so I'm sure that helps, but as this was for my son.. who gets the same everytime..cheeseburger, fries.. I haven't ate a burger in a while but I tried his, and I was impressed, it tasted great nothing like my last experience a year or so back.. it was hot, juicy not overcooked and had the toppings perfect, not just a stingy squirt of mustard, ketchup ect.. so I say 5 stars for taste and accuracy, and I would had given 5 star for overall if it was cleaner inside, for the dining area and countertops where I grabbed extra items was not to clean, floor was sticky and tables had food/ trash left at some.. also a warning to those like myself, if your immune compromised or don't want to catch Covid or sickness in general.. I'd recommend you wear a mask, I do because I do need to be careful.. but I saw no one in there with mask, ( lots of vacationers for example.. unmasked.) which could be why we've seen Dare County with a fast and steady increase of Covid happening, so just heads up to be safe,,sanitize your hands and don't go in if your high risk to catch the bug.. Although their prices have always been exorbitant, the many times I have been to a Five Guys restaurant, I have always left feeling satisfied with the quality and freshness of their burgers and the enormous amount of hot fries they load into your bag and the free peanuts they let you munch on while you wait for your order to be freshly prepared. (the gimmick they use to make you think you are getting more for your money) My experience this week was disappointing to say the least! My burgers were not hot, but barely warm, The scant amount of fries, barely enough to fill the container were not hot but barely warm also with a few thrown into the bag to make grease stains on it and their prices have gone sky high, their attention to quality and freshness has greatly diminished, and to top it all off... NO PEANUTS!!! Franchises like Five Guys grow so big and so fast they lose site of their business model that got them to where they are. It seems to happen with every franchise model these days. I ate my high priced, sub standard Five Guys food but this visit was a huge disappointment. In these trying times when everyone is struggling to survive Biden's intentionally failed economy, businesses are cutting corners, raising prices and gouging their customers to death, it's better to stay at home, keep your money in your billfold and fire...

Being a local here on the OBX there are a few Fast-Food Food joints I notice and I see that they are so backed up and I get that they have other things to offer and sometimes it can be very chaotic specially if you have children because everybody so indecisive. If you are like me and want to avoid the long lines the long hassle of looking at menus all over the wall I suggest that you go to Five Guys!!!!! Five Guys is simple the menu is not overwhelming their burgers and fries are very delicious & they have good Milk Shakes along with a good variety of sodas that you may not get at other fast food joints. While you are waiting for your order they have complimentary peanuts for you to enjoy whether you dine in or just waiting for your order. The staff there are friendly and wonderful people and will make sure that you are satisfied with your food. My family had not done fast joints anymore Five Guys are our favorite as long as we're living here we will always be going to Five Guys for the wonderful burgers and Fries that they have. To whom ever is reading this post and have never been to Five Guys please give them a try before going to a fast food joint and enjoy all at the Outer Banks...
