The Bird Store- The Outer Banks Wildlife Art Gallery — Attraction in Kill Devil Hills

Not having visited the Bird Store I can only guess that it is as outstanding as the chance encounter I had with its owner today. I am from PA, visiting my sister after the recent death of her husband and after losing my own husband less than 1 year ago. Neither my sister or I know anything about oil levels in cars and I’d wanted to check on mine before returning to Pgh from KDH in the next few days. I tried myself to check it in the KDH PO parking lot but no oil registered on rhe dip stick at all. Mr Harvey of The Bird Store noticed my hood up and asked if he could help. As it turns out, I think he is probably one of the kindness, caring gentlemen that I’ve met in some time. He checked and confirmed that the oil stick was “dry as a bone.” He suggested that I take the car immediately to a full service gas station to replace the oil. Being Saturday, I said I didn’t know where there was one open. Mr Harvey said to follow him to a local station that he knew was open (it was after 4pm). I pulled up to a pump at the station and Mr Harvey got to work. I didn’t know what kind of oil to use so he and my sister found info on this for me in my owners manual, he found the containers of oil stocked at the station and proceeded to add 3 quarts of oil!
