Everything was amazing. I have celiac disease, and I'm a little shy about it. I hate having to ask them to make special expectations for me. Very few places on the beach are safe for me to eat at. No ones fault but my own though!

First off the waitress was amazing. She gave me a surprisingly long list of gluten free items on their menu, both ones at risk of cross contamination and not.

I ordered the bang burger (might have been called bang bang) on a lettuce wrap, with coconut ride for a side. The chef came out with the recipe book to tell me that the onions are fried on that burger but we can go through the book and see if there is something I can have. I thought that was amazing, absolutely above and beyond. I told her making it without onions was perfectly fine.

My husband and mother in law received their wings, which looked amazing (not GF but I can admire them from afar haha), and soon after our meals came out. I meant to snap a photo of my burger but I dove right in and it did not last. It was so so good!

I ordered a drink after, and the waitress came over and she was checking the ingredients on the can, just to double check it was safe.

I cannot thank the staff tonight enough. I have lived here for a minute now, and this is the first place I've gone out to eat where I truly felt WELCOME. I feel safe, if that makes sense, eating here. My side hustle in the summer is at a very popular tourist destination down here, and when asked I'll be sending everyone to Bonzer! Please tell the staff they're...

I was visiting from out of town and walked in to get a to-go menu. The place was almost empty and clearly not busy. Called back an hour later to place a takeout order as we wanted to eat in the comfort of the condo we are renting directly across the street. The woman who answered the phone told us that they could NOT do a take out order due to being short staffed. I asked how long the wait was and was informed there was no wait & the dining room wasn't too busy. I proceeded to ask why they couldn't do a takeout order and was told again they were short staffed which didn't make any sense since there was maybe 2 people inside. She acted almost upset that I asked why they couldn't do a takeout order then. I understand that they were short staffed, however I don't understand how they could be too busy to do a takeout order considering there was no one inside. She almost acted upset that I questioned why they couldn't do a take out if they were not busy. Her response was (and woth a rude tone) "I am not doing a takeout order". I'm completely blown away how unprofessional and almost rude I was treated. You just lost a $50 order bc the staff was too lazy to box up the same items they would have plated if we dined in. Incredibly dissapointed & will not be bringing this establishment my business which I was originally excited for. It 100% doesn't make any sense. I felt 100% unwelcomed to eat there

If I could leave zero...

I don't write a lot of reviews, but this place really stood out. First of all, Google has incorrect hours for them. They were open today even though Google says they're closed.

The place sits right next to a public beach access point, and when I decided to go there I thought to myself "Well, this is going to be a captive market kind of place: overpriced, inferior quality, and corny. Oh well, I'm at the beach, my family is hungry, and I don't want to lose my parking space. Bonzer Shack it is." Turns out the food is great, the prices are better than reasonable, and while it's a little corny, it's a pretty chill spot that looks like it must be fun at night, too. Their BLT comes with fried green tomatoes and is awesome, the Rasta burger is an excellent black bean burger, and their fries have a nice batter and a little garlic flavor. I went back the next day and got popcorn shrimp and a burger from the kids menu. These were not exceptional, but they were good and inexpensive and came with a lot of fries. They also let me in before they opened to cool off in the air conditioning and gave me a free refill of pink lemonade. The staff was nicer than they had to be, my family was happy, and I didn't spend a ton of money: great success. They have live music every night and three beanbag-toss ("cornhole") courts out back. I have a little kid, otherwise I'd come back later and have too much to drink in their nice...

Ordered the sauteed shrimp and gator over rice for $17.99. The cast iron skillet that it was brought out in was very small; about the size of a small dessert plate. Regardless, I was super excited to finally have a restaurant that sauteed the gator tail instead of the typical breaded. Sadly, when I took the first bite, the meal was very salty and the gator was NOT sauteed as the menu started. It was breaded and then tossed in with the 'rubbery' shrimp which gave a very mushy, wet bread mouth feel. I was hoping that being 50 yards from the Atlantic Ocean that AT LEAST, the shrimp would be fresh. I was also only one of three customers in the entire place and the server was rarely seen as it was more important to hang out and chat with fellow coworkers. When I return to the OBX area, I will not be returning to this establishment. I'll go back to Hurricane Mo's where the food was great and I felt appreciated as a customer.

Really nice spot, very clean. Inside dining is very cozy and well decorated, and they have outside dining too. Food came out pretty fast but at the end we felt a bit rushed. Had chips and salsa and the chips were a bit stale, had fish tacos and the tortilla was also a bit stale but very enjoyable. I wouldn't recommend the sliders. Overall nice and affordable, would definitely come back. UPDATE: Came back a year later. The service was incredibly rude this time around so minus one star for sure. They had picnic tables out last year and this year they expanded and the patio chairs are very uncomfortable to eat in, nice to lounge and drink though. Be ready to experience different service if dining outside.

My boyfriend and I ate here after we couldn’t find anywhere close by without a 30+ minute wait. The seating outside was a very atmosphere since it’s like you’re eating on the beach. The food was way overpriced for the serving and quality you get. I got the bbq shrimp and they gave me one piece of bacon that was all fat and not edible and I only got 4 pieces of shrimp. My boyfriend got a burger and he said it tasted like fake meat and was not good. All in all, we wouldn’t go again but we did appreciate the friendliness of the workers and the nice outside seating area!
