Excelent Service and antertainment from our Hibbacci Cheff!!
We requested him not to do fire because of the kids, and he obliged abd found plenty of other fun things to do instead!!
The cheff really had the entertainment aspect down as I'm sure its a larger part of the attraction of their steakhouse in this area.
Service from the bus-boy was poor, he seemed new and young, so I'm sure that played into it.
But we had to wait a while with no water or other drinks and it was hard getting his attention for water and drink refills.
Buss Boy also didn't tell us the drink specials or offer the option of ths kids suvineer beach-ball-cup for the kids. :( He also didn't mention the no-fire to the cheff, but we told the cheff and it was O-K!
Waitress only took the meal order and when we wanted to add a drink sent the buss-boy back, which I thought was a little strange, but OK.
She also hand-delivered the Sushi we ordered.
Sushi was great, very fresh, and priced well (cheap) compared to New York, not sure how it stacks up to local options in terms of price, but freshness was excelent.
The food was cooked to the correct standards for meat as shouls be expected, and the cheff was excelent.
However, a lot of the typical hibbacci flair in spice, especially with the rice, as it was lacking as it seemed to have been toned down a great deal to better suit the pallats of the kitty hawk area.
While the resterant offered fried rice standard as part of the meal, it was rhe item which was by far the blandest of them.
However the other food Items did have more of the typical flair and if you let their seasonings mix the rice became more palatable.
They don't do noodles standard, or as an option, which is uncommon and might be part of why there is less signature hibachi flavoring over-all as the noodles usually have the most sauce applied.
The yellow 'yum-yum' sauce was mayo based, instead of mustard which I prefer, but was of superior quality to many and still very very tasty.
The ginger sause was also of superior quality.
The one thing this place is really lacking is the typical japanese steakhouse motif.
The interior decoration was spartan, and the hibachi tables were packed tightly with just enough space to call them okay, but it made it obvious this was about packing tourists in instead of giving a great dining experiance.
Still over-all I was satisfied, I think it was highly entertaining, and the meat, chicken, and shrimp were all excelent, and once their juices sank into the rice and veggies it became over-all a solid flavor, and there was very good suaces to...
Read moreI should write another review for Fuji Steakhouse for the off-season when we have been there and enjoyed our meal. But during the summer, eater beware. The menu items are steep, so you have certain expectations and we only go on special occasions. As it happened, we had visitors from out of the country who had never been to a hibachi grill style meal before and we wanted them to experience it. Our chef was very disappointing. (We've actually had the bizarre-acting chef that some of the other reviewers have written about and he was as bad as everyone says.) This wasn't that fellow, thankfully, but he was plenty bad in his own way. Part of the expectations is a certain level of showmanship as the chef prepares your meal. We got a bare minimum showing of the typical stunts and skills hibachi chefs display. As far as the food, the chef did not bother to scrape down the grill as he progressed through the menu items and there was a burnt flavor to some of the portions.
Management did not seem to care about our dining experience.
We've had better luck in the off-season when the restaurant is not so busy. I'd probably give the Fuji Steakhouse 3 or even 4 stars based on those trips. But this is the second in-season visit we've made and it was not a...
Read moreMy wife just visited this restaurant with her friend and called me just now to relay the bad news....
The chef appeared to be drunk and was constantly making lewd comments, calling them "baby," "beautiful" (normally fine, but icky when combined with all his other smarmy behavior), or remarks like "I'll take you home and give you something that's well done." Over and over... He burned the food. It was horrible. He kept thrusting his hips in a sexual way. Repeatedly, folks. He would sing inappropriate sexually-oriented songs to the patrons. Racial slurs. The manger was within 10 ft of this behavior, and didn't do anything about it. Some locals said he was pretty tame that night. My wife had a hard time believing it could get worse. A silver lining: my wife knows that no service she ever experiences in the future will ever be this bad...ever.
My wife saw another chef do his thing later and he appeared to be a normal, enjoyable chef... so maybe you won't get this guy. But be warned...
