I feel extremely fortunate that a real gem of a restaurant has opened near me. A family-run operation, Reunion describes itself as a Bake, Bite, and Brew shop, and they do each of those things to perfection. Everything is scratch-made from organic ingredients, even their sauces and syrups.
The Brew is top notch. Getting a cup of coffee here is not a simple pour from a brewed pot. Each order is painstakingly made. You choose your beans, then they are measure out and ground as the water is brought up to a precise temperature. The grounds are wet to bloom before the water is poured. The result is a wonderful cup of coffee. I normally add cream, but this cup was not to be altered. This attention to detail pervades their entire operation. They offer a full line of teas and espressos.
Bake is is a delicious line of pastries that rivals it's neighbors, which is not an easy thing. Downtown Kirkland has more than its share of outstanding pastry shops, and Reunion just upped the ante.
The Bite is also the Bomb. Their waffles are soooo good. The Kaya (Malaysian for "rich") syrup is wonderful. It is a luxurious blend of coconut, creme brulee, and pandan leaves. They smoke spare ribs and beef brisket. Their time in the American South has has given them the opportunity to acquire great BBQ skills. They offer a nice lineup of salads and sandwiches.
Reunion is run by a brother and sister and their spouses. They are so nice that it is a pleasure just to visit with them. They are of Hainanese-Malaysian descent and at some point they plan on adding Hainanese Chicken Rice to their menu. I can't wait. They may experiment with a Char Shiu style rib.

Read moreI've been trying to get in here to give it a try, time hasn't been on my side. Finally got in there today. (Car went in the shop so I had my hubby stop here in the way home, wink, wink😉) First I will admit I was a bit sad that the Malaysian specialties are not available until after 11:00 but then again it gives me an excuse to come back. Ok! Just so you all know I love coffee, not all coffee but good coffee, not the big chain coffee "evil empire" coffee places but the small quality coffee places. Did you hear that? I think I can hear the angels sing🤗 This coffee was.....WOW! It's wasn't a fluffy frufru coffee drink, just coffee, plain black with a wonderful aroma. With coffee like this who cares about the food, lol. (Jk) I ate too! My hubby had the waffle with bacon, thick bacon. Not some wimpy sorry bacon. Big thick porky bacon, yum! He ate all his waffle and bacon so I'm guessing he liked it. As for me I have sooooo many dietary restrictions it can be hard to eat out. I had the bacon omelette no cheese (can't do dairy but I can eat bacon!!) a side salad with fresh berries, seeds, lightly dressed. Perfect way to start my day. I'm looking forward to going back. Give it a try, nice little...
Read moreI was born in Singapore, I ate and cooked all these dishes growing up, Infact I was in sg and Malaysia a few weeks ago lol. They are not supposed to taste like this. Ordered the nasi lemak rendang and mama mee goreng. Both were salty, not inedible though. However the flavour was bad. Rendang was watery, lacked the unique creaminess and slap of the Kaffir lime leaves. Ikan bilis ( anchovies) was soggy, sambal provided was not nasi lemak sambal ( they just fried chill and made a paste). Mama mee goreng is made with the ground lentils and peanuts thats what gives it a unique flavour coating the noodles this place just simply fried noodles and it was greasy. Shrimp in mee goreng was good, I’m not sure if it was fresh it might have been and I liked it. Price for nasi lemak rendang was 19.5 and 18 for mee goreng. I recommend maya Asian market for rendang or Kedai makan Seattle. Infact h-mart Prima taste rendang is pretty solid and the Prima taste laksa instant noodle is great too, been living of that since being here for school. Service was good they seem like nice people and they checked on us a few times, hate to put down a family business but this is not personal just an objective...
