We went at night and the guy running the drive thru was chatting with a customer through their window for about 20-30 minutes. The customer handed him a vape pen, and he tried to make a cool looking pose, and then he took a huge swig while locked in the pose. After he exhaled, there were clouds bigger than the cars in line, billowing against our windows, filling the interior with marijuana scent.
Then the guy handed it to other employees working inside, and they all seemed to share it. Yet more clouds barreling down the drive thru making it impossible for anyone to see.
At one point, the main drive thru guy looked really scared, like he thought he had too much, and we all had to wait and watch as he decided whether he thought he was dying or not. Oy vey.
Again, this went on for 20-30 minutes.
Finally the dude handed the customer their vape pen back, the customer drove out, and it was our turn. He said barely a word, he just held our bag at us and grunted for us to take it. After how nice he was to the other people, I was hoping we'd at least get to talk to an interesting person, but he was just plain rude to us.
Naturally, the food was cold, the details were wrong, and apparently they were out of every single ingredient. Supreme with no supreme trimmings, cinnamon twists with no sugar, pizza with no sauce, etc.
Back when Austin was less gentrified and more casual, you'd have to deal with a "restaurant from hell" now and then. One time while my family was waiting in line (I had a tummyache keeping me up and begged for some comfort food) the entire staff of a McD's ran outside and did a flash mob dance at 3AM, for the next 2 hours. It was a good dance, but the annoying part was that they just didn't care what would happen to the customers stuck in the middle of the line they ditched.
But that was years ago! I haven't seen that kind of nonsense in a really long time! (And yes, that McD's closed. RIP. They had good cooks.)
Anyway, in summary: This Taco Bell was the first time in years that I just wanted to grab some healthy (for late-night!) food and was hassled for most of an hour by lowlifes with no respect for their jobs or the law. What if I had been rushing to an airport or something?!
And it seriously looked like the employee at the window almost had a heart attack, all so he could try to blow vape clouds bigger than our vehicles, like it...
Read moreI went to this Taco Bell location for a power menu burrito. The cashier rung it up. I asked him to add a drink or make it a combo, whichever is the cheapest. I also asked him to add beans and rice since the burrito did not come with it. He said that there are already beans and rice in there. I was a bit confused, because just before going there I was looking at the online order in that restaurant and it clearly stated that beans and rice are an up-charge. I asked him if he rung up the correct burrito, and he said yes. I also added 2 grillers to my order. The total came out to be $12.20. It seemed a bit high, but I still paid it and started to review the receipt. The cashier had rung up the wrong burrito, some XXL burrito. I waited until I got my order. I saw there was a crunchy taco, which I did not order, so I questioned it to the employee who brought it out. They finally figured out that I wanted a power menu burrito with a drink only after I told them. They took the XXL burrito and started making my power menu burrito. Meanwhile, the two employees, started to ring up the power menu burrito with a drink to see if I overpaid or underpaid. I had overpaid. I told them it is okay that I do not want my money back as long as my order is correct. Before leaving I confirmed with them that it was the power menu burrito with rice and beans. I got to work and started eating my burrito to find out that it did not have the guacamole or the avocado ranch. I was very upset, because I overpaid and still did not get my order right. They need better employees or trained employees who know the menu and the ingredients...
Read moreI would never go there again. There was no receipt even though I paid by credit card. Had to pull around front to wait for food. I was going to overlook things at first because I figured that it would just be given to me when the food was brought out to me. I open the back to check the receipt (I get nervous giving my card to anyone without proof of what I paid), that's when I got pissed. Taco was not wrapped up, and half of the ingredients were dumped all inside the bag. The quesadilla was wadded the wrapper, then folded in half and stuffed in the bottom of a small bag. I went inside to get my receipt and tell them about the condition of my food. It only got worse. There was no one at the front, so the guy running drive thru comes over to ask what I need. I ask for my receipt. He walks over to the register, looks at the long tape of receipts he obviously has not been giving anyone. Just then someone from the back yells at him to get the drive thru order out. He takes the next two cars, leaving me standing there waiting for him. When he sees that I'm still there. He comes over and lies saying that the tape gotten jammed and they threw away all the receipts before that. I was so irritated I left not even bothering to discuss the state of the food. I get home and try to fix the mess that was inside the bag back into the taco. That's when I notice there is less than a teaspoon of meat, but a whole wad of cheese. It was a gordita, it was cold and soggy. Like it had been sitting. Awful. I don't expect much from taco...
