This is the worst academy I've been too and never will again. Here is my explanation of why...
I went to check out a weapon due to before, I bought all my weapons here (majority of them, first weapon was at academy ten years ago) and was checking again to see another potential buy of a weapon. I came to the counter, was bored greeted and asked the employee I wanted to check 3 guns. Now before, it was a easy sure which one would you like to see? And I would see them, but now the dude said " I need to see your id" to check a gun, I showed him it and he then told me "uh no you have to put it on the counter cause the cameras need to see it when I show you the guns " I said to him, but also feeling very off about it that, " this is new, never did this before..." The whole interaction I felt extremely off and very set on not even seeing the rest of the selection I wanted to see, I got my id and told him I'm good, and left. Still that scenario was still leaving me off putting, so I had to research and doing so, I found this when I asked do you have to show id when checking out guns at the counter:
"No, while you likely won't be asked to show ID just to check a gun at an Academy Sports andOutdoors counter, you will need to provide identification to purchase firearms or ammunition, as stated by NRA-ILA. Federal law requires a background check before transferring a firearm to a non-dealer, and this process typically involves verifying the purchaser's identity."
Now, again, I wasn't purchasing, but looking at a new weapon to potentially purchase, then he did that. I'll see other academy stores else where but there in Kyle I would HIGHLY NOT RECOMMEND IT. Very poor business...
Read moreAcademy apparently does not honor the price that they advertise online when purchased in store. The lady told me you have to buy it online. Why are they on sale online but not in store? ( which is a $20 difference). Also they say they beat cometitors pricing (which they advertise on their website) but yet they dont honor their own price online in store. I literally stood inside the store and bought the item. I am currently standing outside of the store waiting on an item that they literally have in their hands but yet they are intentionally making me wait. If you ask me this poor customer service at it's best. This is definitely a lesson learned. Finally came in store to pick up my items and still had to wait because it has the wrong tag on it. Now all of a sudden they can't find it when I literally brought it to them an hour ago. Next time I will just drive the extra miles to San Marcos outlet and spend the extra $20 because that money is definitely worth my time, sanity, and comes with better customer...
Read moreManagement in Kyle Texas store has a policy of opening up the product you just bought after you paid for it .. I’m not sure this is legal once you purchase it without any justification at all other then the rude manager said he gets ripped off a lot ..manager was rude and practically accused me of opening up a Blackstone grill box and putting stuff in it and taped it back up 😂 I am a 70 year old law abiding disabled veteran who never has been in trouble in my life . And I don’t carry a roll of shipping tape with me 😆 Store is clean because its new..., but they will have to change that policy before I will shop there. I think its ridicules unless they have some reason to think you stole something. the manager said they don't discriminate and everybody gets there things searched at checkout but that's not true. I been watching for the past few weeks and they do discriminate on this issue.. guess i be looking for a lawyer see how that shakes out .. and I will be...
