Really rough morning for Compass, a place I’ve been to a few times before but won’t be coming back. Came in around 11 with a few family members to have breakfast outside and witnessed a super understaffed and chaotic scene.
What we witnessed and experienced was during and after the long time we waited to be acknowledged properly, spoken to or tended to as customers (which we felt more like intrusions than customers).
Not sure what happened, but having only one waitress, one bartender and one cook (as I learned) resulted in being ignored for a long time, a really angry bartender, and what I overheard was a woman (who I heard works there) who was having breakfast with her mom on her day off pulled onto the floor. It took over 15 minutes to get sat - not because a lack of tables, but because an entire lack in communication from the waitress who kept saying “yup!” after she said she would seat us, then would proceed to clean the bar, the other tables, seat other people, makes drinks at the bar for customers and clean up other customers spills.
You can see what I’m getting at. This young lady was doing the job of a host, waitress, food runner, busser and bartender for every table. The bartender clearly didn’t want to help her and was working at a snails pace, serving those who sat down at the bar who she seemed to like most. Didn’t try to help the waitress at all, and it’s clear she had time to help with simple things to make the waitresses job easier.
We ended up having to order our drinks at the bar after waiting 10 minutes at our table, the food took 45 minutes (fine) but we didn’t get our drinks, and then when we went to pay we were told the card machine went down.
Overall - management, owners - staff appropriately. The people working today seemed miserable, overwhelmed or downright careless. And every customer suffered. Plus that woman who works there who was pulled from her breakfast with her mom...
Read moreFirst time, last time. First we heard about Bloody Mary's on FB. Our server told us real good ones with shrimp clamato, make your own etc, were only availble on weekends. They were ok, there was one couple in front of us and it took 45 minutes to get breakfast. I got a parched not poached eggs. A couple came in and wanted 2 coffees to go , the servers kept saying go ask the other server at which point they finally said we don't need them and left. There were 4 employees including the cook, none of them appeared to be getting along. There were only a few specials on the board , she did not know what they were. It costs 90 bucks for food, drinks and coffee, which is fine if eveperience was ok. There are too many other places in area to waste your time going here. We waited a long time for dinner last night at Lagos. The difference was everyone was working hard, very effricient , pleasant and knew what...
Read moreThe stand out gem of Weirs Beach! Best breakfast and lunch on the lake. Very clean and beautiful inside with the food still being very inexpensive. I can’t speak for the bar part of it (which from the diner you can’t tell exists) but if you’re looking for a tasty and inexpensive breakfast this is 100% the...
