I absolutely LOVED staying here!
My family and I rented out 4 cabins last summer - 8 adults and 2 kids in different age groups, all with very different interests/vacation styles. The 1848 checked off almost EVERY one of our individual requirements and preferences!
My boyfriend and I stayed in one of the adorable little one-bedroom cottages and it was just perfect for what we needed - A clean, cozy place to stay & enjoy the granite state for a few nights. I love that it was a free-standing cottage, so it still felt like we had a place of our own for our time there.
The cottage included a shower and half-bathroom, which were separate from each other off the main room. They were both very small, but that didn’t bother us one bit!
Other than that, the room had cable TV, a mini-fridge, a coat closet, and a small dresser. Each cottage also had its own BBQ outside. My favorite was the little porch! First, it was a great spot for us to hang up our wet towels and keep a cooler or 2. But most importantly, I’m a smoker, and it was nice to not have to hike somewhere every day for my morning butt. I am also NOT a morning person, lol, so I loved being out in the summer shade with my own little spot that allowed for plenty of time (and personal space!) to wake up.
That was one of the many ways in which the owner was SO AWESOME! Not only did he give us an excellent rate, but he was the perfect level of laid back while also being highly accommodating. He was often out in the morning, tending to the grounds and keeping the property in beautiful shape. He’d give us a “Good morning!” or double check to see if we needed anything, but mostly just did his thing and gave us our space to wake up.
That’s not to say he was stand off-ish, by any means! He was incredibly friendly and welcoming, and genuinely made us feel like guests - never like impositions.
My mom rented one of the larger, family-sized cabins which again, was perfect!
Parking was super convenient, directly next to the unit, so it wasn’t a huge hassle getting things packed or unpacked. Full sized kitchen, bathroom, living room/dining area, and I cant seem to remember if there were one or two bedrooms, but it slept 2 adults and my 12yo brother very comfortably. It also had a large raised deck with a BBQ grill and picnic table right next to the shared fire pit.
The property is along a main road, but the cabins are set in the back so it still felt super rural which is what we wanted. If that’s not your thing, they also rented standard motel rooms just along the road, which I’m assuming is great for bikers who just wanna wake up and ride! Plus, the location itself is within a mile or so to weirs beach, and the area is scattered with awesome local antique stores and...
Read moreDO NOT GIVE THEM A DIME!!!! Me, my girlfriend and our 18 month old daughter were looking for a place to rent for the winter. We came across an ad they had posted advertising for winter rentals. They have a rule for maximum of 2 people which they bypassed for us and rented us the 2 bedroom mobile home they have. Before we could move in and throughout the 6 weeks we stayed there the manager mark(who i will discuss shortly) asked us at least a 100 times if we were really going to stay the winter. And everytime the answer was the same. "Yes!!!" We were paying a mere $400 a week to stay there and every week it was paid on time in full. During the 4th week i recieved a call a work from the owner asking me to leave work and come there because he wanted to show the mobile home to a couple that wanted it. And then was told that if they did we would have to leave because they would pay way more per month and he couldnt pass that up. Needless to say i wasnt happy at all. On the friday of the 5th week when i went to the office to pay rent. I was told we had a week to move. Not only is it november, the week of thanksgiving coming up, but most importantly my girfriend and i had a week to do so with our 18 month old daughter. The owner is a joke and completely put us in a very tough situation for no reason other than being selfish. We are locals and word of mouth around here is big. It can either help you or hurt you. Mark the owner is a creep and we suspected more than a few times of him going in while we were gone. He would only come knock on the door when my gf was home alone, which she said made her feel very uneasy. And after he let himself in while she was in the shower i made it very clear of the outcome if it happened again. These people are shady, very untrusting, two faced, and just people that dont deserve to have the postion they do to take advantage of people. So please go somewhere else. Dont give them a dime of your hard...
Read moreMy family stayed at the 1848 Inn & Motor Resort in May 2017. I was unable to post a review then but because I was so impressed with our stay, 14 months later, I am taking the time to post a review now! We came to Laconia to attend a family convention. We stayed in one of their cabins which accommodated our family of 5 (including a busy toddler) and our dog. The price was outstanding for this area and we saved even more, being able to cook some of our meals in their kitchenette. At the time, updates and renovations were pending for the cabins but they were super clean and met our needs perfectly for a fraction of the cost elsewhere in Laconia. I have stayed all over the world in 5 star hotels and while I can say that the cabins at 1848 inn are more rustic (it is a cabin/cottage after all!) I have never experienced the level of service, hospitality or attentiveness as I did at 1848 inn. I even remember the names of the team who took care of us there, 14 months later - Mark & Soraya! If I ever have reason to return Laconia, I will be...
