UPDATE: as of 4/28/2025 I am never coming here again. The server behind me spilled a drink that splattered all over my shoes. I sat at the bar and so there is ample space to clean below/near me. One of the servers proceeds to grab hold of the back of my chair and uses it to balance herself the entire time, shaking me and making me fall out of my seat. She said sorry after I slipped off a little and then proceeds to continue to do it. She says “mam I just have to clean. Do you see the mess?” She put a towel down and uses her foot to slide it back and forth while holding onto the back of my chair. I asked her if she wanted me to move, she didn’t even look at me and then keeps shaking the tall chair. I did not feel safe nor did I feel acknowledged.
I come here for the Triassic trio EVERY time. However I am so unbelievably upset about the taste, portions, and change. Not to mention that it took SO long. I loved the shrimp dish that used to be included as part of the trio. It has now been replaced with a crab and shrimp au gratin. Which would be fine if it wasn’t so salty and have the texture of wet mud. There was also very little shrimp in there. Maybe like 2 baby shrimps? MAYBE? Speaking of shrimp, the grilled ones in the platter are no longer big and juicy. More like dry and chewy. They’re also a lot thinner too. The rice was dry and felt almost stale. It’s also a sad indicator of your steak if your roasted vegetables had more flavor. The steak was very much like chewing tasteless rubber. The butter at the top was great- had there been more than 3 droplets of it.
The thing that I found outrageous wasn’t the horrendous service or the bad food. It was the price. It went from being $29.99 to now $39.99. $10 difference for something worse!!! The prices used to be listed on the flyer of the description next to the picture. They were not there this time. If the price had gone up $5 I would have (maybe) understood. Idk though. The portions have been reduced to about half of what they used to be. The quality has dropped dramatically. The food they did serve were not good choices. My heart breaks for the buttery shrimp dish that no longer exists now.
My boyfriend’s burger was no different. The patties were thin so we doubled up. The bbq sauce they had in it was so watery! He said it tasted more like light teriyaki sauce than it did bbq. We packed up our food.
The only silver lining was our server Carlos. He held our night together and if it wasn’t for him, we would have walked out right then and there. I hope Disney gives him a bonus from the money we wasted tonight.
I used to travel from Tampa JUST for this restaurant. Now, I’ll never return. We noticed that there wasn’t a line anymore for the restaurant. Now we know why. Guess we weren’t the only ones ‘bitten’ by the experience.
Makes my dark lil heart happy 🖤 This place is one of my favorites. The service isn’t bad, but it isn’t great so be mindful of that. You’ll also have to wait in line sometimes for a table, but it’s well worth it!
Upon arriving, you’ll see a giant sign and T. rex. The decor is really cool and they’ve designed it well. Inside you’ll find a variety of sections including the ocean by the bar, the jungle in the middle, an ice cave in the back. You’ll also get to see meat roasting over fire. I’ve dined in all sections and it’s nice to experience them all. There’s an occasional meteor shower that happens where the animatronic Dino’s move and the lights flash.
The portions of food are phenomenally big. It tastes pretty good too! I love getting the trio every time im there. The shrimp in that is so so so good. My bf always gets the hamburger and loves it. We always have left overs. Definitely one of the most fun restaurants...
Read moreDecided to try T-Rex cafe for my two year olds birthday celebration since she loves dinos. First let me say book in advance.. Like a month in advance especially if it's the summer time. I called a couple weeks ahead of time and tried booking online but there were no regular reservations available on a weekday for not even 2 ppl. Anyways I had a party of 12 and ended up booking the birthday experience. Not sure why I had to book under the group sales. It's not like we were seated anywhere extra special or had special attention.
We were a party of 12. Our reservation was at 4. However we weren't seated for 25 min after because large parties require a manager to come to the front to seat you. Not sure why because he just walked us to a regular table like a regular hostess. Because the only way I could book was through the group we had to hit a certain minimum of $30 pp, a banquet fee is added, and 17% gratuity (which I was fine with). It was super loud in our area so no one at the table could hear each other unless you were side by side. I ordered from their limited time menu the tbone steak which was really good. My husband ordered the trio and was disappointed. He really wanted to send it back, but instead I just shared some of my food with him. The scallops were so nasty I literally gagged. Shrimp flavorless. Veggies were good though. The older kids all got burgers which were fine and the birthday girl got a pizza. A few others in the party ordered meatloaf and said it was good. Oh and the drinks are pretty weak for the price.
The first bill they brought me didn't include the build a dino which is supposed to come with the birthday expedition. There was constant confusion of what was included in what we booked. Maybe the manager should wait the table instead of just walking the party over. The waitress got it added on though finally. They claim to offer a 10% military discount but it only took $13 off a $413 bill.
Once we paid we had to wait yet again for the manager to take us over to build a dino. He just walked us over and the associate in this area was also confused as to what came in our package.
Overall was it worth the money? Nooo, but my kid seemed happy. She was amongst the dinos which she loves and got to pick and stuff her very own. Good one...
Read moreAppalled by the horrible service and racism of the waitress we had. We have dined in almost every restaurant inside Disney World and have successfully dined at this TRex cafe before, so much that we came back to celebrate our special day once again. Therefore I never imagined to be treated so rudely. Since we are 3 adults, 2 children, and an infant under 1, we were put as a party of 6. Being a party of 6, the waitress automatically signed herself up for 18% gratituity. That’s no problem, if the waitress was at least half decent. Because of knowing this, she treated us with disrespect and racism from the beginning to the end because she knew she would get plenty of tip either way. The waitress started by none stop reciting the menu. When our daughter wanted to order, she was told to shut up and wait till she was done reciting info we didn’t need to be able to speak. Rolling her eyes and making snarky remarks. Then, when the waitress rolled her eyes and the waitress would pass by to another table and periodically say “everything’s good, GOOD.” Not actually asking us, but answering her own question with a quick good. As soon as we would try to respond “can I please have a spoon./ We haven’t received the side of fries. May I have water?” ,she would be already with her face and body completely around walking elsewhere. Later on my daughter wants to say that one of the things she ordered was so delicious and the waitress cut her off and said “whatever you want to tell me , if you’re here in 30 minutes after I go over there and say hi to that table over there, I’ll hear you. Also you don’t have to tip because I already put my 18% laughed. Looking back, I should have requested to speak with the manager. Not to get a refund or a percent off, but just to let the manager know of how rudely we were treated.
We paid for the gigantic Supersaurus Sampler $33, Prehistoric Pasta With Chicken $28, Meteor Meatloaf $26, Seasoned Fries side $6 (paid for that was never brought out), Seasonal Vegetables side $6 (that couldn’t be blended), Chocolate Extinction $24, kids meal $12, kids meal $12, Shark Water nonalcoholic drink, miller lite, Peanut Butter Banana smoothie $7.50, Oreo Smoothie $7.50, Category “5” drink, and New York Strip $44 . +...
