This rating is for the omakase experience only. Our trips to the regular restaurant to dine have been been less than perfect. However, the omakase changed everything. The stellar menu put together by chef Alex was one to remember. He was kind, personal, & thorough with explanations & plating. He plated every course using expertise, perfection & poise. He was impressive to watch & clearly very skilled in his craft. The first course was a tasting of hairy crab, a Kumamoto oyster with a topping, and a lobster tartare. I am normally not a fan of spiny lobster & haven’t enjoyed much lobster raw. However; each bite showed complexities & was delicious. Chef Alex had a demeanor that instilled trust in the dining experience so I would’ve eaten whatever he served no questions asked. Second we had a crudo that was a Japanese fish very similar to fluke. This was excellent, light; and fresh. It was served with a radish condiment similar to kimchi. Next was the sushi course. Each bite was served individually. No soy sauce needed as each had its own complexity of flavor & texture. Some were lightly torched & some completely raw. This included many different fish & squid (not all are pictured). Some of our favorites were the kinky fish & the toro with caviar. So decadent, buttery, and melts right in your mouth. After that we were in for a real treat: Hokkaido Uni, soy marinated salmon roe, a little rice, and fresh ground wasabi root. Another favorite course of ours. Hokkaido uni has no comparison to California. It is so rich & flavorful. Fresh wasabi root compared to powdered is like night & day. It’s such a treat to have it in the US & ground fresh in front of you. It has completely different flavor as most wasabi in the US is ground horseradish dyed green. If you get a chance to try the fresh wasabi here or elsewhere please do! You’ll be surprised by the pleasant difference in flavor. Next came the richer courses or the “meat & potatoes” so to speak. The first was an incredible sea scallop & king crab basted with butter cooked in the shell over an open flame. Reminiscent of Tsujiki or Nijiki markets in Japan where you see this style at almost every seafood stall, it was fantastic & fresh but also a show. Next was a Chilean sea bass with enoki mushrooms and vegetables with a sauce on the side. The fish was tender and flavorful. My husband loved the sauce that accompanied it. Next was a lamb chop with almost like a mint chimmichuri over a slaw. I love lamb and this was tender & scrumptious. Our last savory course was of course the king. A5 premium Japanese wagyu. Chef has set aside some thin slices for our omakase which he served up to us almost sukiyaki style. Seared for only seconds on each side and served to us with egg yolk for dipping. There was also sauces & salts if needed but the premium egg yolk added even more decadence to this perfect course. We were stuffed at this point but who could resist dessert? They served us a Japanese fluffy cheesecake with a strawberry basil chutney & sorbet. This was a great ending to a fantastic meal. I only wish I could’ve finished it! This experience took us around 3 hours which is the perfect time for us. We also took part in the beverage pairing where the server did a phenomenal job pairing the courses. We had champagne, different sakes, wines, and a great after dinner drink. Definitely worth it if you drink. We really like our dining to be an experience & enjoy the flavors, textures, and presentation of what we’re eating. We also like it to be a learning experience for foods we don’t have as much experience with. This hit all of the marks & knocked them out of the park. This was an experience at Disney to rival even that of Victoria & Alberts. If you like to dine & are adventurous I would highly recommend the Omakase at Morimoto Asia. You won’t be disappointed. Great portions & selections of food leaving opportunities to try many different styles of cooking. Chef Alex was a dream to be served by & his menu was creative & innovative. We will definitely be...
Read moreI was so excited to eat here. I stalked a reservation for weeks. It opens for dinner at 4:30 so I figured that the only option we were given was 4:45 that it could be a bit quieter than later. We were seated quickly, and , realized that this place is so noisy that our party of 6 had to yell to hear each other. It was enough we had to use noise cancelling headphones on our disabled daughter. That said , that is really my only complaint.
On this trip we met our friends for dinner to make us a party of 6. Our server was a bit 'scattered' and 'unreliable' and when asked questions seemed to 'reach' for answers. However, he was attentive and provided decent service. I believe the forced 'tip service charge' on parties of 4 or more truly discourage from exceptional service since they pretty much get a guaranteed amount. I always tip above for exceptional service and this was just ok.
We were told there were multiple kitchens, and that food would come out at different times -so it was good to know that in advance.
For appetizers, we ordered the 1/2 rack of ribs for the table and one couple also ordered the pork dumplings. The pork dumplings were said to be fantastic, flavorful and well cooked. Sadly, disappointed in the ribs which everyone raves about. They were fork, fall off bone tender but super fatty - and you really could not taste the sauce. They were ok - one of our party really like them, the other 4 of us felt it was overpriced and not great.
For meals - Three ordered the Filet. One ordered the Gomoku Fried rice One ordered the Orange Chicken One ordered the Buri Bop (Me as I was so excited to try it)
To start, I tried some of the filet off my husband and daughters plate and SOOOO Wish I ordered that - I would rate it a 12 out of ten ranking higher than any steak I have had anywhere I can remember most tender I have ever had and so well cooked you would think it was a master class of steak cooking. The veggies are then sauced tableside to caramelize them, the sauce, veggies and filet are worth every penny and the trip to dine here. It was a huge portion at 10 oz .
My son ordered the Fried Rice with Sambal sauce. He said it was exceptional. The sambal sauce really pulled the meal together and he ordered more. The portion was HUGE and if there is a next time we can share and try more things.
One ordered the Orange Chicken and said it was really good, in the end there was nothing left on his plate but said next time he too would come back just for the Filet as he nibbled on his wife's steak.
I ordered the 'winning dish' Buri Bop. I heard amazing things and this was the reason I booked this restaurant. It was prepared table side which and I wanted to see the dish come together - the food came out and the table side service was not exciting, hard to understand and was done as if you were forced to do it. I enjoyed it but secretly regretted not getting the steak. The tuna was flavorful and cooked nicely, the sauce was nice, the rice got crispy but it just didn't all come together as I had hoped and dreamed about after having seen it win on TV and the rave reviews. I found myself wanting more of something from this - I tried more sauce, mixing it up better. Was it good, yes, very good, but not great and certainly not what I thought it would be.
Two of us ordered a bottle of wine to share. It was a nice wine, but the waiter brought a glass out first and not a bottle and then said oops..
Desserts were also ordered. Two of us split the Nama Chocolate Two of us split the Soufflé Cheese cake.
The Chocolate was super dense and rich - I tasted a bite and I was not a fan . On the other hand I shared the souffle cheesecake and it was amazing -My husband normally does not like cheese cake but we were intrigued, and it did not disappoint. Light, flavorful and just the right ending to the meal.
I only wish we could hold a conversation while eating - Disney in general needs to work on acoustics in all areas - but this was the loudest of all the places we...
Read moreupdate Checked bank today and I was over charged on the tip left. This is stealing. So my waiter was also a thief. I took a photo of the merchant copy so will contest with bank and raise a formal complaint with restaurant. update
We really like this restaurant and have visited multiple times. We had a party of four tonight, two adults and two children. Tonight was a mixed review. The hostess was lovely and welcoming. We were seated quickly near the stairs and the POS area. Our waiter came, and his badge said Antonio, but the bill said Juan, so not 100% what his real name was. He didn't seem very happy and didn't really talk to us. He took the drink order and left.
Our drinks were brought to the table by other staff who were nice.
Our waiter came back and took our order. No chat, just took order and left. No advice on the menu or conversation. Just quick quick quick.
We orderd Spare ribs these are our favourite Egg rolls Wagyu steak Duck Shrimp low main. Didn't really like this one.
Food was brought up by other staff. Again, a lot more talkative.
First, the spare ribs and egg rolls. We finished these. Our waiter didn't come to see if the food had come or if it was good. Another member of staff cleared the table. At this point, we wanted another drink.
Our waiter was busy at the POS moaning to other staff about a table that had a dish missing. Saying how it wasn't his fault, they didn't know what they ordered. Very unprofessional.
We managed to get his attention and order a drink. Again, no talking to us. All we got was "Is that it?" We had ordered two beers.
Another member of staff then brought the duck and shrimp low main he was very friendly and nice. He told us he would check on the wagyu to be cooked at the table. We hadn't asked about it, he had checked our order. Attentive staff member.
The gent came to cook the wagyu and talked to us about the steak and the certificate. He set up between our two children, and they loved watching him cook the steak.
The food was all great except the shrip low main, but this was more our taste than anything being wrong with it.
The waiter brought the two beers over. The table was quite fall, my wife and I both picked up our empty glasses to make space and took the new full drink to put down. We both said thank you as he handed the freah glasses. We both then handed him the empties. Nothing. No acknowledgement. Plain bad manners.
The next time we saw our waiter, he was complaining to another staff member called Katy about a table. He kept pointing at them. He then went to the POS and was moaning to a few staff members. No one really seemed interested in his complaining. I think it was a manager with a name badge Myles, I think, responded to his complaining about guest interaction.
The waiter came over all plates where empty apart from the low main. He didn't ask about the food if it was OK. All we got was "you want a box". I said no, thank you. He picked up half the plates and left.
The next time he came back, he had brought the bill. We hadn't asked for it and hadn't been offered dessert or coffee. We said we didn't want our bill and could we see a dessert menu. He came back with the menu we ordered dessert. No conversation.
Our dessert arrived. We had a vanilla gelato and a cheese cake.
Just stating the dessert, we were not halfway through the bill was put on the table again. Obviously time to leave.
We carried on eating our dessert. Halfway through now and he came back. "You done with that?"
Didn't ask how the dessert was, didn't ask if we wanted a drink. Was only worried about the bill.
I said no we are still eating.
We finished our dessert and I paid the bill.
We really like this restaurant and will not let one bad member of staff turn us off. However, he really shouldn't be dealing with customers. We were made to feel like we were nothing but an inconvenience, and to overhear him complaining about other tables was very unprofessional and only made us feel...
