If you are looking for some generic pizza to feed the kids while on a Dells getaway, Klondike Pizza will certainly fit the bill. However, if your expectations go beyond that, you're setting yourself up for disappointment. And for $18.99 for a 16" cheese pizza, you are paying a premium price to get Pizza Hut quality 'za.
I recently had my first Klondike Pizza experience during a recent business meeting in the Glacier Canyon Conference facility on the grounds of the Wilderness Resort in the Dells. The ordering and delivery process went smoothly and the delivery person was both punctual and pleasant. The pizza came in good condition.
While a great pizza deftly balances the three primary components, crust, sauce and toppings, our pizzas needed more sauce to balance out the thick dry crust and the thick, tough layer of melted cheese. While the exterior crust had a pleasant crunch and no interior sogginess, it offered practically no flavor and had an extremely dry texture.
With so little sauce, I am unable to opine on its quality, other than to say it had a red hue.
The cheese had little elasticity and did not add much flavor to the equation. The relatively bland sausage had chewy pockets of fat and a heavy dose of fennel. Topping quantity was generous and the pizza was not at all greasy.
Klondike offers five standard meat options (pepperoni, Italian sausage, bacon, Canadian bacon and chicken) and seven veggie options (roasted red peppers, red onions, green peppers, spinach, black olives, fresh garlic, mushrooms. Pineapple and jalapeno peppers). The cost of the first topping is $1 and 49 cents for each topping after that.
There are a couple of specialty pizzas that feature Wisconsin cheese curds and there is a S'mores dessert pizza on the menu. Appetizer options are limited to...
Read moreAwful and overpriced food. $36 for a large pizza and bread sticks. If it was decent food I could get over how over priced it is. The bread sticks are clearly purchased frozen from a factory and warmed on site. The pizza crust if not the entire pizza also comes frozen from a factory. It ruins the whole pizza. The crust is hard and similar to frozen pizza crust but actually tastes worse. There is nothing redeeming about this place. Trash cheap food for a premium price. Give this place a pass, and pretty much all the food at Wilderness. Deeply...
Read moreWe tried calling from our cell phone and the room phone 4+ times to order and the line was always busy (7:30-8pm) so we ended up walking down. Only took 10 minutes to cook and us to take back so it was fresh, but it was not good i’m not sure what it was but most of the cheese and pepperoni were over cooked. Wasn’t until we got back to the room and realized it wasn’t even cut good so we had to tear the slices apart with our hands. Very filling for the 1 pizza which was about $25 but I would not order...
