I will start with the good, because it wasn't all bad. First, the outdoor pool, indoor pool, and indoor little kids waterpark are all nice & my kids did enjoy that amenity. The free coffee every morning was also very nice & actually really good. It's also nice that tickets to Noahs Ark Waterpark are included with the stay. However, I would rather stay at a nicer, cleaner hotel & pay for my own tickets to the waterpark. Paying $900 for 4 nights, even if it did include the waterpark, was just not worth it to me & parking at the waterpark is $20/day. After lots of talking and complaining, I did get the manager to finally refund my first night, so I spent $700 on 4 nights instead of $900, but I feel she should have refunded at least half my stay and here's why I complained. I traveled 7 hours by myself with 3 kids ages 14, 8, & 14 months. The pictures of the rooms online made them look very clean & way bigger than they were. I was unable to book a family suite bc they were all full, but the Guest Room still looked bigger online. Right when we walked in the room, the musty smell was overwhelming. My daughter & I had sore throats after only a few minutes in there. I went in the bathroom & found mold all along the outside of the tub & mold in the sink. Not ok with having a baby in the room. I immediately called down & the manager told me they were booked solid so they couldn't move me rooms. Then said she could send someone up to spray bleach on it. I told her I would get back with her bc I had just walked in after 7 hrs in the car with 3 tired kids and we were all hungry. After we got all settled I went to the front desk to inquire about a refund & moving rooms, but the manager was gone and the lady told me to come back in the morning bc only the manager could approve refunds. I asked to move rooms, but she said she had just booked the last one, which means when I had called down earlier in the day & they said they were totally booked, that wasn't true. The next morning I spoke w the manager & it took lots of persuading to get her to refund a whole night. It shouldn't have been a question. Then she said I could ask the cleaning lady on my floor to come clean it to see if it would come up...so I did. The cleaning lady came in my room, sprayed one small spot with bleach, wiped a couple times with a towel, then walked over to the room phone, called downstairs & said "yea it's not coming up." Then she hung up & looked at me & said, "you can stay in the room, it's nothing to worry about." Super unprofessional & not ok. Reluctantly, we chose to stay in the room & not pack up and go to another hotel because I did get a one night refund & was too exhausted to pack everything back up and move plus we would have lost a whole day at the waterpark & only had so much time. Also, my sons socks were black after walking around in the room. I didn't even want him to sit on the floor. I washed everything when I got home because I just felt dirty after being in that room. We had a good time at the waterpark, but next time I will stay at the nice Marriott down the street and buy my own waterpark tickets. I will spend less and won't expose my kids to mold & uncleanliness. When something like that happens in a place of business, they should have refunded my stay & put me up in a better hotel if they didn't have clean rooms for me and my kids. I will not...
Read moreIf I could give this hotel zero stars, I would. I booked our room weeks in advance after comparing multiple hotels. I settled on this one because it offered a whirlpool tub with mood lighting and a romantic atmosphere which was perfect because this was for a romantic getaway for myself and my husband. We were severely disappointed to find the room musty and smelling strongly of mold. I brought our concerns to the front desk and they offered is an ozone machine to put in the room for 15 minutes while we were out. I declined due to the fact that ozone machines can be very dangerous to your health (please refer to the sites I will be quoting at the end of this review), especially if you already have respiratory issues (from which myself and my husband both suffer and I made known to the staff that we suffer from breathing problems). We tried to salvage our getaway and even requested a different room, one without any of the perks that I booked specifically for, and a tub that would be too shallow for a toddler. The romantic atmosphere was ruined, our confidence in a clean and safe hotel was shattered, we ended up leaving without even spending the night and drove 3 hours home in the middle of the night. When bringing my concerns to hotel management, I waited nearly a week for a response, only for the to deny any reimbursement or partial refund, stating that because we refused the ozone machine (again, VERY harmful), and because we attempted to salvage what we could and switch rooms to one with none of the amenities I booked for, we were not eligible for a refund or apparently even an apology. I will never be returning to this hotel that has clearly not been updated in over 30 years, and I strongly recommend anyone reading this chooses any other hotel, don't give a hotel that does not care about the health and safety of their guests any business. Don't waste your time, money, or hopes on this low grade shack. They should be shut down. Zero stars.

Read moreThis has to be the worst hotel we have ever stayed at. This review is more about the hotel and not the staff. The staff were fine. Upon entering our room a strong funky odor was present. It smelled like dirty feet and mildew combined. It was so humid in the room it felt like a rainforest. The surfaces, sheets, and window were damp. We were hungry and exhausted, so we dropped our bags, adjusted the a/c with the hopes it would take the humidity down to a tolerable level, and took off for a couple hours to eat. When we got back to the room, it stunk just as bad and it was actually more humid! It was obvious the a/c wasn't working properly and not to mention that there wasn't enough air flow due to lack of return air from the tiny vent in the bathroom. I took a closer look at the a/c and noticed how disgustingly dirty it was. There was mold growing on the vent fins! And then I got an extra whiff of the funk...coming out of the a/c...the source of the ungodly stench! I made a call to the front desk to request another room, however there wasn't anything available. All she could offer us was a repair while we would be gone to the waterpark the next day. She also wanted to place an ozone generator in the room to get rid of the smell (not a good idea as ozone is bad to breathe in). I told her I was concerned that we were breathing in mold. She said there wasn't anything she could do until the next day. I kick myself now and should have used better judgement and gotten my family the hell out of there. We stuck it out and what a mistake. I slept not one minute. My wife and kids maybe got 1 hour. We all had stuffy noses and felt ill by morning. I went to the front desk and explained the situation. She said they could have just replaced the a/c the evening before which didn't sound realistic. I then cancelled our next 2 nights of stay. She credited the two nights, but that was it! I went back to the room and got the car packed, went back to the front desk and demanded a refund for the torturous evening. She gave us half of our money back. I conceded and accepted the refund -- and really only because I just wanted to get out of there. Went across the street and booked a room at the Holiday Inn for the remainder of our stay. We tried to get into The Wilderness, but they were all booked of course. The Holiday Inn is turning out to be a lifesaver! So far we have been very happy and will likely write a review once we have checked out. Spend more...
