I ordered a pizza for pickup on-line, The promised ready time was 35-40 minutes. Longer than usual but since it was Halloween, that is somewhat expected. When I arrived, 40 minutes later, I was told that it would be another 35-40 minutes. The guy apologized and said they got "swamped." That is really not a valid excuse. If they got swamped before I ordered, that should have been reflected in the promised ready time. If they got swamped after I ordered, the swamping should not have affected my order. I decided to wait it out, despite the fact that it was really getting too late for us to have dinner. After another 40 minutes I asked about the status and was told it would be ANOTHER 40 minutes. That made it way too late so I had to cancel the order. I had already wasted an hour and a half of my life and wasn't going to waste any more. Who know what would have happened if I waited another 40 minutes? I had no confidence the people running this place had any idea what they were doing. I have been a regular at Sal's for years but it will be a long time...

I wandered in with my family on a Tuesday night, and was immediately greeted by the friendly staff and incredible aroma of baking pizza.
We ordered the garlic knots and meatballs to start. The meatballs were delicious and the garlic knots were little bombs of buttery, yeasty goodness, and the garlic was robust but not overpowering. When our Grandma Style pizzas arrived, our expectations continued to be exceeded.
The crust was crisp, flavorful, and chewy. The toppings worked together beautifully. The marinara and breadcrumbs were packed with flavor, and the mozarella had a great consistency and very little oil. By the end of the meal we were planning our next visit.
Did I mention you can by daily home made Mozzarella cheese? Can wait to enjoy it with my salad

Read moreSimply put, if you truly LOVE New York Style Pizza, then Sal's Pizzeria in Foothill Ranch is where you need to go. I grew up for most of my life in NY and NJ. One thing I will say, as Californians are spoiled with weather, NJ and NY are spoiled in phenomenal Italian Food and Pizza. Unfortunately once you leave that environment, it always is the one thing you're always missing from back home. Now I've been settled in OC for about 7 years and I can say that no where else hits as close to home as Sal's. It's the taste of home without the flight. If the fresh ingredients, incredible sauce, and perfect baked dough wasn't enough to make me keep coming back, their Grandma Pie sealed the deal and has made me a customer for life. I've already started getting family and friends hooked. If you've been bold enough to read to the end, the decisions already been made for you. You're ordering...
