Had been going to Cozy's for about 10 years. Today visited Cozy's with five other pre-COvid frequent patrons. The required online ordering - even if you are dining in - not only was ridiculous considering we were seated 10 feet from the wait station but also resulted in poor service when the serving of the orders was chaotic since the waitstaff didn't know which meal went to which patron. All that could be chalked up to pandemic instituted routines - that should have been eliminated or modified now that Chicago is at 100% capacity. However, the absolute worst was what we found tucked at the bottom of our bill: $15 RECYCLING FEE!!!! What in blazing saddles is that? When we asked about it the proprietor pointed to a sign saying "Recycling Fee May Be Applied". What a joke. Even though our party had already put the bottles and cans we had brought with us (this is a BYOB establishment) back into our own coolers/bags to bring back home - Cozy's had the gall to charge us a $15 recycling fee. When we questioned the owner about this new recycling fee (sign of which is not found outside for diners eating at the outdoor tables) we were told it was actually a "corkage fee". What boloney. Simple money grab. Corkage fee at a Thai restaurant with no advance notice of what this fee "which may be applied" may amount to?? And is posted as a Recycling Fee when no recycling is being done??? If they are that hard up to make more $ just increase the price of your dishes by $0.50. No one would even notice. But don't try to insult us by adding a ludicrous recycling fee. When other restaurants provide actual glasses for your BYOB wine bottles or beers (not plastic glasses like at Cozy's) and have NO corkage fee - Cozy's is way off base. Cozy's - your insulting attempt to grab more money with this ludicrous "recycling fee" has lost you...
Read moreI am in Chicago visiting my college student for a few days and she said we just had to eat at her favorite Thai place ever. This is quite a compliment coming from a seasoned foodie with a discriminating palate. We had dinner at Cozy Noodles and Rice this evening and now it is my favorite Thai place ever! It's a small space near Wrigley Field and if you didn't know it was there, you wouldn't know it was there. The walls are lined with fun knick knacks and tchotchkes galore and there are maybe ten tables inside. We were greeted warmly at the door and our service was friendly, attentive and gracious. And the food! My daughter had raved about the crab Rangoon and I was pretty skeptical considering that any I've ever had seemed to have come from Costco, but these are made in house and are amazing! You simply must try the Tom Ka, for real. I'm not usually a fan but this was so dang good. Just the right amount of heat and coconut forward with chicken, mushrooms, tomatoes, green onions and lemongrass. Perfection!
My daughter loved the drunken noodles with tofu, but be forewarned that it has a kick! I ordered the Happy Noodles from the menu items inspired by the Cubs World Series win. They were fantastically garlicky with a generous portion of chicken and broccoli.
All of the food was fresh and perfectly seasoned. The portions are plenty for sharing, so go with a group and order several dishes to pass around. Get there early, as they close at 8:45, and bring cash. Cards are not accepted and there is an ATM on site.
Cozy Noodles and Rice really hit the spot on this chilly day. I'll definitely make it a must-go during my next visit, and...
Read moreI lived down the street from Cozy's for almost a decade from 2010 to 2020, I moved to the gold coast in 2020. I was by Wrigley Field and visited Cozy's for lunch on three different occasions in the last 6 months. On all three visits Julie the hostess / owner was very rude. I did not feel the need to leave a bad review the first two times thinking maybe she was having a bad day. My last visit on Sunday afternoon 8/14/22 I took my family ( girlfriend, my girlfriends mother and my girlfriends 9 year old son ) Julie's attitude towards all of us was deplorable !
The awful experience started by Julie giving us menu's and wasn't very friendly at all, , within two minutes asked us what we wanted knowing we have not even opened our menu's yet?? She then immediately told us it's cash only! I asked her nicely why you can order take out with a credit card and not pay with a credit card when dining in ? Her reply " IT"S CASH ONLY WHEN DINING INSIDE, ! " was said in a very angry manor. My girlfriend was shocked at Julie's demeanor and said let's leave ! So we did prior to ordering. I was so embarrassed and have never been treated so poorly in a restaurant !
I've also read some of the other bad reviews for this establishment and see the dis-resect / rude treatment of customers seems to be the norm. If your considering dining at Cozy's i would suggest finding another place to eat where you can use your credit card and are treated with respect and kindness! As far as the food goes, it's definitely more expensive than it used to be and average at best. Cozy's is not a place I would...
