I've been here twice and feel like the cafe has a cozy vibe ✨ some of the cute tapas I ordered were extremely tasty but others too salty for my taste.
I was here during our frigid cold snap on a Saturday at around 1pm and this place was extremely packed already so service wasn't the best. I eventually received a pitcher of water 💧 and you choose what you want via an app called toast instead of picking from a hard copy menu. You can keep the tab open after providing your full name and credit card 💳 information or you can pay in advance and tip in advance and then the staff here will prepare your food for you.
First visit I chose the basket of garlic fries with aioli sauce to the side, chicken 🐔 Empanadas which were extremely tasty and crisp and a little dish of cheese, rice and beans which were filling and good but way too salty for me. I also got a coke because I don't drink alcohol but they offer a very extensive variety of cuban cocktails here so if you love exotic drinks this is your place to enjoy good Cuban sandwiches and cocktails 🍸
For my second visit I wanted to simply try their dulce de Leche iced coffee and a light pastry puff but unfortunately they were all out of the pastries so I picked a slice of chocolate sponge cake that came garnished with chocolate chips, cream and strawberries. The cake was extremely large and rich so I boxed it to take it home with me as i drank my coffee. Worth noting I was brought an incorrect coffee drink initially but the barrista was happy to change it. I'm not a huge fan of the strong coffee though either but you might love the expresso options they offer here.
The manager also let me sample a tiny Churro here with Chocolate dipping sauce to the side which I did love very much. The dough is light and crispy and comes with homemade 🍫 sauce.
I would love to come back here again just to try their happy hour and see if any food items are discounted since I don't order cocktails.
Atmosphere here is very cozy, and pretty with a long bench stacked with pillows along one side of restaurant and private, colorful tables that seat two to four people...
Read moreWhen you spend a good deal of your life in Miami Little Havana, South Beach, NW 36 St. always offer SUPERB CUBAN food. I have yet to find such in Chicago, so wanting to give Cubaneo & being nearbyI stopped in only a bright fa afternoon. Ordered a Cubano sandwich & iced coffee con leche Nothing tastes worse than a poorly heated Cubano- it is as much. a menu staple as rice & beans. Dismally I ate the first half, but then decided to get up and asked for the other to be heated. The attendant thought Inwas asking for a to go box, but when I said muy caliente, she sent it back to the kitchen. And when it returned it was dismally the same. I noticed a young man now in the restaurant and inquired if he were the manager. He explained he was the son his father was owner in the kitchen. Iexplained my sandwich and he stated that they were in process of changing both menu along with this new staff. Andas stated in said regardless of these adjustments a Cubano is a staple served up nice and warm on yummiest bread most often for me with plantains. He said yes he know being raised in Cuba and was sorry. I wanted nothing from this encounter- no refund, no free voucher to returns imply toenjoy my lunch. Long story short, iI shall wait until I visit Florida to enjoy delicious Cuban food amidst a great dining atmosphere. See you in Miami and...
Read moreWe love this little Cuban restaurant. We’ve been here multiple times and here’s the review:
The food is excellent but it has a small wait time. The first thing I tried was to-go and it was a Cuban sandwich on a large brioche type of bread. I had a long drive, and I sat and ate it in my car outside my house. The sandwich was still hot, the bread was extremely soft and the meat was tender and flavorful. I had some fries as well and they were great with the aioli. After scouting I went again with my s.o and we sat down. This time we got ceviche and the coconut cocktails, empanadas, churrasco, and I want to say quesadillas. The drinks were presented with a flaked coconut rim topped with a beautiful flower. Well balanced drink not too sweet and not too strong. The appetizers were excellent they’re very filling, you can definitely just grab an app and a drink and be fine. The only thing I’d give a 3 out of 5 would be the churrasco. We didn’t feel as if the chimmichurri had much flavor, more oil forward less acidic cut. The meat was fine it could use more char. Check this place out it’s amazing and they can definitely use more customers. Just don’t blow it up I like quiet...
