I placed an Uber Eats order at this restaurant on noon Christmas Day for pickup between 5:45-6:15. I even received email confirmation from the restaurant at 12:34PM. I arrived at the restaurant at 6PM and waited about 5 minutes to be able to ask someone about my order. The person told me they would look my order up and after that I stood in front of them for another 10 minutes watching them help people around me before again asking for an update on my order. At this time I was advised it would be 15 more minutes, since it was only 6:15 I was willing to wait. During this time, I saw multiple people who came in after me receive their orders. At one point it was only three people in the restaurant waiting for orders. Around 6:35 I asked another employee for an update on my order, they asked for the name and disappeared to the back, they brought out multiple others orders before bringing out a name I mistaked for my own. After being informed it wasn’t mine, I again requested an update on my order and advised I had been waiting for 45 minutes at this point. When they came back they stated it would again be 15 minutes, as I tried to explain I placed my order for pickup for 5:45-6:15 the employee continued to yell over me asking “did you order from uber eats?” and when I replied yes, they stated they hadn’t started cooking the order until 6PM (verified on the receipt I received). After I requested a refund, they stated I would have to go through the app I advised them the app says my order is ready and therefore I cannot request a refund, they stated they would need their manager to submit the refund and would have to take my name and number before giving me one. This clearly does not make sense and if I can’t trust my order to be ready on time, why would I trust a phone call about my refund? The employee continued to yell over me and argue with me, despite knowing they made a mistake here. At one point I had to tell the employee to stop being rude to me, and they accused me of being rude. Not once did I raise my voice, curse, talk over, or berate anyone at this restaurant I simply tried to explain my situation while being talked over and ignored for an hour of my time on Christmas Day. This type of customer service is completely uncalled for and unacceptable, especially for a restaurant that chose to have special hours and...
Read moreWhat a fun little stop this turned out to be.
I had a long day at work, rushing to hit a deadline, and decided to talk a walk with no intention of stopping.
I walked only 3 blocks, and took a turn I don’t normally take just to experience somewhere new. Not three blocks from that turn I stumbled across this establishment.
I hadn’t eaten and decided on the same spontaneous vein to stop into this this seemingly unassuming restaurant.
I was met with a very New York 2000’s vibe. Very hole in the wall, 7 tables with two chairs each type of place.
A man from Russia sat to my left waiting for his DoorDash order, a sweet gay couple sat to my right lost in conversation, and a tv poorly mounted on the wall played a show I’d never seen, turned into a comforting background noise.
A man occasionally showed up from the kitchen to drop to-go orders off on one of the tables meant for dine-in patrons, while the woman catered to the only two actually dining in. There seemed to be a system and it seemed to work well.
The food was fantastic. When being met with a 250 item menu, I tend to go with whatever the workers recommend. This time, the recommendation came back as Pad Thai, to which I obliged.
The food cost 15.42 for takeout, and I tipped three dollars simply because of the happy attitude I was met with. I waited about 15 minutes, was handed the food, and sent on my way.
I walked 20 minutes home, filled up my water, sat down, and unpacked the brown paper bag.
I was met with a tightly packed, still steaming how container of pad thai, which to my surprise was orange.
I squeezed the included lime on the chicken and noodles, and got absolutely lost in the food.
This is an experience I’ve had so many times before, but never really cease to appreciate.
5/5 stars. Quality food, atmosphere, and...
Read moreAwful experience. Poorly managed. The lines were out of the doors on Xmas (not because it's popular, but because orders were backed up up to 2 hours). Food is 2/5. Wait was 7/5.
The owners did not manage the scenario well at all. Asking them wait times was like speaking to them in a foreign language. They would completely disregard or ignore the question and look away or pick up the phone or run back to the kitchen. It's a rough time for restaurants so it's hard to be bashing on something as small of a place as this but truly a terrible experience. And it wasn't only me. The 25+ I saw during that 1.5 hours span all shared and were sharing the same experience as me. It was almost comical and some of us shared to comically look at this reality show in front of us where every 4 seconds a phone rings, or someone yells (because they ordered ahead for pick up and food isn't ready) while the 2 sisters(?) who run the shop keep going back and forth the kitchen and just simply choose to ignore you over and over again.
It was a business case in front of me. How does a restaurant get it wrong. And what could go wrong. Xmas Eve for Chinese restaurants can be an opportunity. But yummy yummy failed miserably. I hope they learn from this real life episode of terrible management.
I can write so much more. But I wouldn't know...
