*THIS BUSINESS IS PRO-POLICE SURVEILLANCE AND BRUTALITY"
Dear Panino's Pizza,
I am writing to express my disappointment that your business is supporting an alderman candidate who runs on a platform of pro-police brutality and increased surveillance. As a member of this community, I am deeply troubled by this stance and its potential consequences.
Firstly, I strongly disagree with the candidate's position that adding police presence will prevent crime in our neighborhood. Research has shown that increasing police presence often leads to more arrests, but not necessarily to a reduction in crime. This is particularly true in safe neighborhoods like ours, where crime rates are already low. Instead, we need investments in community resources and programs that address the root causes of crime.
Secondly, as a LGBTQ-friendly business, I would expect Panino's Pizza to be particularly attuned to issues of police brutality and the harms that surveillance can cause to marginalized communities. The candidate you are supporting, however, appears to be at odds with these values.
I urge Panino's Pizza to reconsider its support for this candidate and to take a more critical approach to issues of policing and surveillance. We need leaders who are committed to building safer and more equitable communities, not those who perpetuate harmful and ineffective policies.
Thank you for taking the time to read my letter, and I hope that you will consider...
Read moreBruno I have exclusively ordered pizza from here for 3 years. Ordered at 3:50pm Friday night. The clerk (male) took my order. CC (2) wouldn’t transact. Clerk kept saying, “You can pay cash”. Sounded suspicious. Called Evanston. Spoke with female manager who assured me it was the system. Went to pick up pizza. They didn’t make my pizza. The two befuddled male clerks said, “The computer is down.” Really? Does the computer turn off the oven? I left. Called the store 10 minutes later. Talked to a female clerk. “Why can’t you make a pizza I ordered 70 minutes ago? If the system was down the phones wouldn’t work and if all the stores were having trouble, why not write the orders on paper. She said, “I was here alone.” “That’s funny. When I called a male took my order and when I came in 10 minutes ago there were two males there.” Plus Bruno. That’s 4 people. Not once did anyone say, “We apologize. We know you are frustrated…it’s Friday night, you just want to get food and go home.” Nothing. In fact, there was a lot of barking at me for not understanding their problem. All it would take was for someone to be apologetic. Instead, both the Evanston store staff and the Lakeview staff were short and nasty. Lou Malnati’s here I...
Read moreEast Coast style thin crust pizza (plain cheese is $6 and extra sauce is $1) that you can fold to eat the top of the pizza. It was a nostalgic feeling seeing the pizza bc it looked similar to the NY and Nj pizza I am used to. And the sauce was fresh and very good. It was made with real tomatoes and you can taste the chunks. The crust was a bit flat and dense and not chewy like the ny nj pa pizza has bc of the soft water aspect. Overall it fills you up w just 1 slice and it reminds me of nyc pizza and is tasty. Plenty of seat yourself seating and no wait staff which makes it easy bc you don’t have to tip. Staff are welcoming. Street parking and it’s $2.50/hour. Walk here...
