Roadhouse 66 Gas N' Grill — Restaurant in Lake View Township

A group of friends and I encountered a racially insensitive and rude experience at this bar on 4/12/23, which means that I cannot recommend it to anyone.

We were in Chicago for a week and went to this bar after the Cubs game. We are from Ireland, so not everyone in the group understands the tip culture in America. When we bought a round, one of the two people in the group that was paying didn't leave a tip. A male bartender served us, but after seeing no tip, a female bartender walked over to our table and inquired why we didn't tip without explaining her question any further. When one of the group responded that they didnt tip because this was not something that is done in Ireland, she picked up the bill (including the leather cover) and flung it aggressively across the bar in front of us, while shouting obscenities at us. Following this, she then walked up and down the bar, telling other customers about the "irish people who wouldn't tip." There was a DJ who then started repeating this and other insensitive racial slurs using the bar's PA system while we were finishing our drinks. I walked over to the female bartender to apologize and give her the tip that they should have received initially, and she just told us to leave and that we weren't welcome anymore. Despite my repeated attempts to speak to her to explain the situation, she was not receptive and seemed more interested in the power trip of not serving us any further. On the way out the DJ heckled us over the PA system asking, "Where are you going guys?" even though it was clear that the bartender would no logner serve us. Bouncer turned us away without listing a reason and was extremely rude. Have never had an issue like this, especially at a smaller bar when we were just trying to watch the Vikings game

Edit: Folowing the owners response, I felt compelled to create this edit. This bar is trying to claim there was a fake ID involved when there was not a single fake ID in our group - we were three 23 year old Vikings fans wanting to watch the game. We all had multiple secondary forms of identification and would have been more than happy to involve the authorities but the bouncer said "I didn't say the ID was fake" and when asked why we were being turned away he said "I don't give why's here. Leave now." The bouncer was simply incorrect in gauging whether an ID was fake, didn't allow any evidence to change his mind, and was extremely rude in the process. Your bouncer should be able to differentiate between genuine and fake Minnesota IDs as a "Vikings Bar." Why would your bouncer be so dismissive of a "blantantly bad fake ID" without any chance to prove otherwise and why would anyone holding one be so expressive online. Please look inward on this behavior, as we were given zero opportunity to prove our identify or our age, and instead were confronted only with disrespect. Rude staff, awful service. I was invited to this bar because my friend had won a "party" giving her free drinks/shots from 8-9 and her guests discounted drinks/shots from 8-10. The issues arose when trying to utilize this free service for her and discounted service for her guests. She was met with disgruntled and rude employees when trying to order her free shot. The bartender complained loudly to another bar goer while making her shot, and when he gave it to her he said "only this ONE time." No explanation was given as to why she could not order free shots, given this was her understanding when she had won the party. Additionally, as her guests tried to order their discounted drinks and shots, the bartenders were lewd and patronizing. There was apparently another rule about what kinds of things could be ordered discounted. But again, we never gained an understanding as to what we had done wrong. The staff never once explained what we were misunderstanding; instead they continued to talk back and make us feel very uncomfortable.
