Closest thing to real home cooked Authenic Mexican food in my opinion. There's these gimmicky places that come from, who knows and in my opinion are just aweful. BUT Viva ... well that's a horse of a different color. See, my family on both sides, mom and dad's side, have lived here(colorado) centuries. We migrated from Mexico in the 1600s landed on a boat in Southern Mexico in the 1500s. If anyone knows Mexican food it's my family and myself.
DON'T go to these Taco Bell, Hacienda Colorado, 3 margaritas, and old school casa bonita type restaurants. DO Come to places like here. Unlike the places above, Viva make your order fresh with fresh ingredients, authentic ingredients. The salsa don't taste like "Pace Picante". It tastes real. How it's suppose to taste.
The Letter B breakfast burrito is my favorite. It contains potatoes that aren't frozen, freshly shredded cheese, real bacon, fresh eggs that are scrambled, all rolled in a fresh tortilla. The only complaint I have The burritos need to be bigger a bit. And they can be nearly half to 2/3rds the size of Chipotle burritos. I also like the churros and horchata.
Other dishes are equally made amazing.
They are not terribly expensive.
From experience its all...
Read moreThis hell hole is an assault to all the senses. The service is horrible and it customary to be greeted by lazy, rude loser staff who speak marginal English and if you're really lucky. The food is likely of the canine or feline persuasion. The food portions are a joke. If you get more than two small bitefuls of their "mystery" meat, consider it a gift. If you buy a breakfast burrito don't expect there to be any meat other than one small tiny nugget of meat A request for simple things like extra cheese turns into a folly of idiocy. Three shreds of cheese is their idea of extra, yet no matter how likely they are actually forget and put it on, they.never forget to charge you for it. The inside its so nasty and dirt it is not fit too grow penicillin in. The "dining" area smells and looks like the gutters of Tijuana. That is probably where they found the staff. I have often heard the staff say really rude comments about me and others who asked for relentless corrections to wrong orders. asking for extra cheese or to omit certain ingredients is certainly not an Everest request, but they are really competent at being really incompetent. Good luck on this epicurean disaster, and may God have mercy on your...
Read moreI think when you go to a place like Viva Burrito, you kind of know what you're in for. Decent mexican food at a decent price. Nothing fancy but usually pretty good! I ordered delivery while at work, and the food arrived relatively warm and quick! I got the nachos and a chicken torta, and both were pretty good. The nachos are a huge portion of the price! About $13. The chips were fresh tasting and covered with cheese, pico, a big pile of beans, sour cream, and guacamole. It comes with carne asada and there's no option for a different meat. I don't know if it's different when you go to the restaurant. The steak is a little dry but had a good flavor. The Chicken Torta wasn't bad either. The chicken itself is a little bland, but the salsa I added really kicked up the flavor. The portion of meat was kind of disappointing. It made for bites that were just bread, thin slices of tomato, lettuce, and guacamole. The bread was delicious, though! Nicely toasted soft and fluffy! It's not the best mexican food I've ever had but far from the worst. A decent choice for a late dinner when you don't feel like the normal fast...
