Dan's seafoodandchicken — Restaurant in Lancaster

I don't know who Dan is, but Dan is the man! I am visiting De Soto, Texas for work, from Vancouver Canada. Figured why not look for some fried chicken or fish while down south, AND BOOM THIS IS IT! Not much else, but a small diner, a TV, and a huge menu. But seems like takeout is the way to go over here. The fried chicken was delicious, really tasty, really saucy. Can't go wrong with honey barbecue. I didn't want to try anything really hot as I have to get up early for work tomorrow, but these had a little kick. The fried catfish, oh… My… Goodness…! now I know why people love the south! These things were wholesome, thick, well breaded, and fresh. Last but not least, six jumbo butterfly fried shrimp! Yes, you heard me, they are jumbo and butterfly. What a treat! I probably would've been OK with just the shrimp and fries, but I had to get my fat on! Thanks again, Dan seafood, and chicken! The food is good but I personally love the crawfish. I started eating the crawfish 2024 season, and this was maybe my 5th visit of the 2025 season & today they got me with a batch that was very obviously frozen or already cooked and just reheated. It tasted rubbery and was cold on the inside and I was thinking maybe they are frozen because they’re out. So I asked if they no longer had live crawfish because mine was cold on the inside and was told that all of the crawfish was live. I’m a little disappointed because this was my fav crawfish spot and I know for a fact that I had reheated crawfish. I also eat other food here a lot too. First time trying this place and glad I found this gem. Customer service was A1!!! Breaded wings were good. Shrimp fried rice eas on point. Crawfish rice is GREAT! Definitely gotta get extra garlic butter next time. Would love a lil cajun season or spice to it. Will definitely be back. Loved how I was greeted when entering & even the well wishes to enjoy my good when I left. Placed order online & it was right on time. Hot & fresh. The owner was jokin and talking with what seemed to be a frequent customer that said he missed coming by and had to come. So that tells me a lot. Give this...
