Went in today with my boyfriend, my mom, my dad and my brother in hopes to have a good dinner. Horrible experience from the start. Took at least 20 minutes to get our orders in and 3 ramens came out before any of our appetizers even did. After 1 out of the 3 appetizers came out, 1 more ramen came out and not only did they miss the garlic chips we asked for, the ramen noodles were already soaking up the broth and you could tell it was sitting there. The older lady who took our order came back about 3 more times to ask our order again and when one of the younger waitresses came by, she asked for our order twice. At which point I realized that my ramen wasn’t even started on when all of my family had finished theirs. We asked for a plain edamame and they kept coming back to our table saying “sorry, the back messed up and made a garlic one, do you want it on the house?” No, I wanted what I ordered and that wasn’t it. Second of all, where is my ramen and why didn’t you offer something I actually ordered for free to make up for it in return instead of repetitively asking us if we wanted something we didn’t even order for free? In the end, the ramen and edamame came out in horrible condition. I wish I didn’t pay for any of this unauthentic food and inattentive service. Everything needs...
Read moreRamen Boy is an absolute diamond of a spot. Walking in, the atmosphere catches your eye in such a comforting and cozy way, immediately making you want to stay a while. If I could give the atmosphere 6 stars on its own, I would.
Greeted by kind waitstaff, I was already feeling like this place would be worth coming back to again even if the food wouldn't be up to par.
Luckily, the food wasn't just a par, but a hole in one. I ordered 3 starters, the California Roll, the Spicy Tuna Roll and Takoyaki (Octopus), originally listed on the menu as Ebiyaki (Shrimp). The California roll was very good, and the Takoyaki certainly surpassed expectations. But the star of the starters was far and away the Spicy Tuna Roll. Never in my life had I tried a Spicy Tuna roll so full of character. For such a simple roll, Ramen Boy found a way to make it extra special.
For the main course, I tried the Donkotsu Black Ramen. The broth had so much more character, depth and flavor than anything I was expecting. The noodles were soft and creamy, the pork was cooked perfectly where it was falling apart, but crispy on the edges. The entire bowl came together in a symphony that Beethoven himself would be jealous of.
No doubt in my mind, this is place to come back to over and over again. It is near perfect...
Read moreCame here wanting to try a new restaurant and celebrate my fiancé and I’s anniversary, we left disappointed. When we arrived we were greeted and seated in a few minutes. The atmosphere here was great honestly, it was very cozy and had a beautiful tree decoration in the center of the room. One thing did bother us, the difference in lighting. There were warm lights as well as Christmas lights along the wall, that contrast isn’t too easy on the eyes. The waitress Emely was nice, could have been a bit more attentive but the interaction was still pleasant. We ordered the Tori Red, garlic edamame, and a California roll. The Tori Red was good..the flavor was like your typical ramen just with more toppings. Unfortunately less than mid way of eating the ramen I felt something chewy in my mouth that wouldn’t break apart. That turned out to be a piece of a blue rubber band.. the California roll tasted old, I have had gas station sushi more fresh than that. The garlic edamame lacked flavor as well, it tasted like it was missing something. For some reason our main dish and sushi came out before the edamame, it took a while for it to come out. Needless to say, we won’t be coming back.. if rubber band ramen is your thing I suggest going...
