California Fish Grill — Restaurant in Las Vegas

Things went badly from the start. I ordered online. I got an email confirming my order with an estimated ready time and I got two texts confirming my order and implying that I would be notified again when my order was ready.

Ten minutes after my order was supposed to be ready we saw a bag sitting on the counter - not in the express pickup area where I was led to believe it would be placed. We enquired to see if it was ours and it was. I never got another email or text telling me that my order was ready.

In my opinion it is MUCH better to underpromise and then over perform rather than the other way around. It leads to a much better customer experience.

We ordered the fried shrimp and calamari. The shrimp were small and few but at least they were tasty. I don't know what that other thing was but it surely wasn't calamari. It came with fries that were very soggy.

The cajin tilapia was very dry and could only be eaten with the assistance of the sauce. The brüssel sprouts were nothing special at all.

The salmon was also very dry. It came with three asparagus spears, which were an upgrade at extra cost.

This 5 star review is long overdue because this place has been one of my "go to's" for great tasting, healthy food and fresh seafood since it opened. But more about the food later. First, I gotta shout out my man Luigi P. and his awesome staff! Seriously! This guy is so friendly and inviting and always makes you feel like you shouldn't be anywhere else! After eating here for a while now, Luigi has actually become more like a cool friend. He also makes sure his staff is as warm and accommodating as himself. These guys are first class! As for the food, man, I have so many favorites and the same goes for my family. My favorite is the fish and chips. Hands down! But everything else is great as well, Ahi Poke, Branzino, Dynamite Shrimp. It's not easy to choose one over the other. The sides are just as delicious! This location was disappointing. I took my mom here for dinner last week and the service was almost as non existent as the person who is supposed to be at the register to take your order. We went on a Friday night after I got off work around 7pm and there was an average amount of customers visiting the restaurant. Instead of someone greeting us at the register to take our order, there was a huge touch screen where we placed our order. They were out of a majority of their seasonal menu items so we ended up ordering 2 fish plates, a clam chowder and some tempura green beans. Yes, we ordered soup in 110 degree weather because the restaurant felt like an ice box inside. We waited a solid 30 minutes before I went up to the counter to find out what the hold up was because my poor mom was shivering at this point. The service was non existent!!!
