I tried this restaurant for the first time in 2015 and although I don't recall everything that was ordered, all I can remember was that it was a great experience and that I wanted to try it again sometime in the future. I didn't expect the "future" to take as long as 9 years, but it did...and I'm glad my wife and I finally made it a point to visit again on 31 Aug 2024 because the experience was just as good, if not, even better than the first visit.
We arrived significantly earlier than our reservation time which got me worried because I figured the restaurant would be extremely busy and wouldn't get us in right away. Needless to say, the hostess was really nice and allowed us to dine earlier than planned. I don't recall exactly how the restaurant looked from the initial visit to see if there were any significant changes, but as I was walking in, and while I was sitting there at our table, I couldn't help but notice the nice "farm-style" mixed with a blend of modern décor in this restaurant. This place definitely brings a laid-back and backyard-style atmosphere, with a touch of elegance. It kind of felt like I was in a scene with Chip and JoJo from "Fixer Upper."
Our primary server, Steve, did a remarkable job the whole evening; he was professional, extremely attentive, highly efficient, and most of all, friendly. These are attributes that tend to slip away from employees at times which can make the entire dining experience less than adequate. However, Steve was on point the whole time and I truly appreciated that. I have zero doubts that the entire staff (management, servers, and kitchen) continually operates in this manner considering this business' popularity and longevity.
For the evening, we ordered a glass of Red Blend and the Midnight Rambler for our drinks; the Summerlin Crudite and a Bowl of Corn Bisque for our appetizers; Shrimp Scampi Linguine, Backyard Favorite Burger w/Egg and Bacon for our entrées; and Mac'N Cheese for an additional side. I don't know what to say because everything was unparalleled, and I mean that. Ok, I changed my mind...I will say a little something about our meal. We've had our fair share of Lobster Bisque and Tomato Bisque at various locations and I didn't think the Corn Bisque would even come close since I'm an extreme seafood person. But I'll tell you what, that soup was magnificent - even Remy from Ratatouille would be impressed (IYKYK). Again, I enjoy seafood a lot and we also love Lobster Mac'N Cheese; however, the Mac'N Cheese version at this restaurant brings a unique twist with flavors in an extremely good way. The presentation of the Summerlin Crudite was sensational and our entrées were flawless.
The price-to-quantity/quality ratio was reasonable and I highly respect this business for their continued support to the active men and women of the Armed Forces, including its Veterans - thank you for that! I cannot say enough good things about this restaurant - it's a wonderful feeling that us locals have a restaurant of this caliber within arms reach and we don't have to battle through the ongoing traffic on the Las Vegas Strip. On the other hand, if you are visiting this wonderful city and want to venture away from the strip or downtown areas, I highly recommend you grab a ride share and head to this restaurant - you will not be disappointed. I highly recommend this restaurant...
Read moreHoney Salt is one of Las Vegas's hidden culinary gems. Nestled away in a shopping center in Summerlin, on the corner of Charleston and Fort Apache, down the road from Tivoli Village, it would be easy to overlook this rather unassuming restaurant.
Honey Salt likes to brand itself as "down home farm fresh" dining, but though its ambiance is casual and communal, the food itself is actually closer to fine dining. This makes Honey Salt a great restaurant for dates AND for social get-togethers such as adult birthdays or business meetings.
What makes Honey Salt unique and stand-out in terms of its food is that it focuses on locally sourced, seasonal ingredients. They get their produce and meats from local farmers, ensuring they are fresh and of high quality. The restaurant is also chef-driven, which means that depending on who the executive chef running the kitchen is, they will be the one determining the menu based on what ingredients are available to them. This makes the food at Honey Salt very unique and different, depending on when you go and who the chef is.
Probably what Honey Salt is best known for are its "Farm Fresh" themed dinners. These are often a "one price per person" culinary experience based around a specific theme, be it a holiday, season, special occasion, or simply the availability of an ingredient or visiting chef. These Farm-To-Table events encompass a 5 course meal, paired wine, signature drink, and typically make use of fresh ingredients from locally sourced suppliers. Prices for these events hover in the $60 range per person and don't include the wine/drinks. They also tend to be very "communal" where those partaking in the Farm-To-Table event are all sat at large tables where the food is served family style. You'll often meet new and interesting people this way, as you all share food and chit-chat with one another. It's a fun event and I highly recommend checking one out. (They have them fairly regularly.)
I have never had a bad meal at Honey Salt, so that speaks to the quality of the cuisine here. Everything about the menu is fantastic, even down to the presentation. Eating at Honey Salt isn't like going to a restaurant like Outback or Claim Jumper. This place takes care and pride in every dish they serve, and it shows. The fresh quality of their ingredients also makes a big difference in the taste and flavor of their food. I can't speak highly enough about their dishes.
Another fun aspect of Honey Salt is within their bathroom, oddly enough. The restaurant offers a salt scrub with which to wash your hands, and it is the craziest, most unique thing I think I've ever come across. This salt scrub makes your hands feel soft, moist, and amazing. (Apparently it's an old farmer's recipe for moisturizing cracked skin on hands.) I've never encountered this scrub anywhere else and I'd say it's worth a visit to Honey Salt just to give this scrub a try.
If you're looking for a fantastic Las Vegas dining experience off the strip, Honey Salt is definitely worth checking out. It's also a great date spot as the restaurant itself is comfortable, casual, and lit for atmosphere. Be aware that the menu is a bit on the pricey side, but this is one of those places where you get what you pay for. I can't recommend Honey Salt highly enough. If you're a fan of delicious food, don't pass...
Read moreIt’s been a while since I’ve had a dining experience where every aspect was next level. Tucked into the corner of an upper class suburban shopping center, Honey Salt is an unexpected find. A warm and homey outdoor dining patio covered in string lights greets guests arriving from the parking lot. The interior has a refined cottage/farmhouse feel, with the finishing touch of custom napkins woven with the restaurant’s name neatly folded at each place setting.
Our waiter was very accommodating and went the extra mile to make sure ingredients were safe for food sensitivities.
I was thrilled to find a thoughtful selection of creative and delicious mocktails (don’t worry, they have an extensive wine list and regular cocktails too). Everything we ordered went above and beyond expectations not only in terms of artful plating and presentation, but flavor, texture, and technique.
Highlights: Sweet Chappell - iced black tea mocktail infused with peach and herbaceous rosemary flavor - perfectly balanced and not too sweet Sicilian Punch - a zesty blood orange juice mocktail infused with fresh basil Burrata & Mission Figs - creamy burrata drizzled with a bright, slightly sweet vinegar over a bed of arugula, topped with thinly shaved pears and quartered figs, pops of bright red pomegranate seeds, and a crunchy seed brittle that had an almost soy-like umami note to it Roasted Jidori Chicken - beautifully crispy skin, but the shining star on this plate was actually the hatch chili Mac n cheese - the lovely green chili flavor infused a creamy sauce that wasn’t too rich or heavy, and made the perfect sauce for dipping bites of roast chicken into. The bouncy macaroni had a ridged texture that was perfect for holding the cheese. Roast carrots were adorably short and squat with the root end included, giving the impression of having been pulled straight from a garden. Farmhouse Meatloaf - bright sweet tomato jam spread atop a juicy meatball, accompanied by charred smoky broccolini and an impossibly rich, cheesy, creamy bed of mashed potatoes. If I had to come up with a critique somewhere I’d say the meatloaf could have used a tad less salt, but it was otherwise magnificent. Key Lime Pie - a dense, very tart lime custard surrounded by graham cracker crust, topped with heaping spoonfuls of thick meringue toasted brown on top. Thinly slivered green curls of candied lime zest gave this dessert a fun and...
