My initial visit to this restaurant was back on 6 Jul 2020. I remember that the food and service was exceptional and that one day I would revisit this restaurant; however, I didn't know when that day would be...that day happened to be tonight (12 Nov 2023).
When my wife and I walked in, it took a little bit before we got seated - it seems as though that this restaurant receives a lot of to-go/online/delivery orders so I understand if the wait was a little longer than anticipated. When we finally got seated, I noticed that the restaurant décor was still nice compared to when I first visited this business. In general, the restaurant was very clean but my menu had some sticky substance to it. For the health of other customers, and overall cleanliness, I would hope that the restaurant cleans/disinfects the menus on a frequent basis. Regardless, that's what bathroom sinks are for...and people should be washing their hands before they eat right?
We ended up ordering the Chicken Potsticker, Thai Fried Summer Roll, Combination Pad Thai, Pumpkin Curry, and Small (14 oz) Side Yellow Curry. This was pretty much the same items we had ordered back in 2020, except, we did try the Orange Peel Chicken back then as well. I won't go through and provide every little flavor profile of each entrée, but will say that overall, everything tasted superb. I know everyone has their own opinion on who has the best Pad Thai in this city, but for me, this one ranks up there easily in the top 5 in the valley (and yes, I've tried many Thai restaurants in my life). The one downfall to tonight's (12 Nov) meal was that our appetizers (potstickers and Thai summer rolls) didn't arrive to our table hot. it seemed as though they were sitting out for a while before they finally decided to serve them. Also, I'm not a potsticker connoisseur, but I have been around the block and have tried many variations of potstickers in my life, and I can't say this restaurant's potstickers ranks up there for me. But, it was still ok...nothing I would throw away in disgust.
The overall service was a little on the slower side, which was surprising considering the restaurant wasn't even close to max capacity (seems ~30-35% filled). Again, I know that there were probably a lot of online/delivery/to-go orders and that some restaurants may prioritize those higher than customers dining in, but at least give us our water and menus right away. I mean, after we were seated, we basically stared at each other until our water arrived. Then after a few sips of water, it took about 2-3 min before our menus finally arrived - it seemed a little backwards with respect to order of operations, if you ask me. But, of noteworthy significance, the two servers working tonight (12 Nov) were very friendly, which is highly appreciated!
The price-to-quantity/quality ratio was reasonable. Hats off to this business for supporting the men and women of the Armed Forces and its Veterans - thank you for that! I can't say that I'll be back anytime soon but may revisit again after another 3 years have passed, or sooner - I just enjoy trying new places. I recommend this place...
Read moreYou go Min.
It's about time Thai came to our side of town. With all the slim pickings, it made us so happy this finally opened up.
Located in the Sprouts plaza across from Albertsons, parking here can get pretty competitive. Never the less, your able to use the Sprouts lot if needed.
So it took me 3 tries to come here before writing this review only because it was a different experience every time. Min took care of us the first time, and she was amazingly knowledgeable. We know our Thai food, so she was equally impressed. Her style of service was homely, personable, and sweet. The environment was mellow, easy going. But there were signs on it being a brand new restaurant.
What ordered: Panang curry Thai beef salad Green curry Tom Kha
So being familiar with Thai food, we were a bit surprised that the panang curry cam out a bit thin in consistentcy. We're used to a rich thick red/orange curry sauce rather the light orange it came in. The green curry, rich but light in heat. I got 8. The heat ratings here are from 1-10, but to enjoy Thai food, see if they can do a 10-20 rating for you in which we did the second time we came in. I got maybe a 15. The color for the green curry also a light green, rather the rich green I'm used to, but good. Thai beef salad was great. Good texture and flavor. The tom Kha could use a little more lemongrass and lime leaves. Honestly think that maybe I am used to a more strong authentic flavor rather than the softened American catered pallet.
On our second sitting we ordered the same, this time Min was off and so was the staff. Not in literal terms, just slow and less consistency. Water was not filled, no knowledge as to the food. Less friendly.
But on our third, we were well taken care of, and attended to. So they have their good and bad. I believe it is their first year, and it's always a hit or miss when it comes to food. But with it being just down the street, I'll be here to keep giving them a try.
But this is why it will take some time for me to go to officially get a thorough review. Still worth the stop, and still happy to have the new Thai restaurant in the neighborhood.
Why 4 stars, because they are still working on it. Staff needs more pep. I came from a restaurant that had 2 servers for 15-20 tables. And we made sure everyone was attended to no matter the condition. There are at most 4 servers for about 15-20 tables here. Also they serve alcohol here, a big plus. Obviously anywhere there is a little tipsy juice, gives the place a bonus. So yes, worth the try if...
Read moreThis place would be better to eat dine in so you can return the dishes they bring you that are not good, which was about half my order. Quick reference for if I come here again I know what to get and not get:
-Honey Shrimp . . good -Cashew Nut Chicken . . good flavor -Pineapple rice . . good -potstickers . . bad -fried tofu . . bad -papaya salad . . Ok
Honey Shrimp: perfectly cooked, nice big fresh juicy pieces of shrimp, not fishy Pineapple Rice: good flavor, not salty, overdone, or mushy Cashew Chicken: very good flavor, lots of veggies, chicken tender, but oversaturated with sauce potstickers: look and taste like freezer burn food fried tofu: chewy, over cooked, basically destroyed the tofu, almost nothing inside the nearly impenetrable shell Papaya Salad: was ok, decent flavor, but seemed flat and missing something
The first time I came here last year they did not leave a great enough impression that I wanted to frequent the place. I remember ordering a dish asking for light sauce and having to bring it back because it was saturated in sauce. Same thing happened this time except I had already driven home so couldn't bring it back. And I know they can do it because the first time they remade the dish and it was perfect, vegetables that aren't mushy and still retain some of their properties, a dish that isn't overpowered by the additives. I even stated twice to the guy taking the order that I did not want heavy sauce, but something on the lighter side. It feels like we are in a time where nobody actually cares what one requests and just nods their head like not a problem, then forgets about it. Too bad because the Cashew Chicken has a great flavor and would be a very good dish. The fried tofu went straight in the garbage after one bite. I've made better potstickers at home that I bought in a box at Smiths. The potstickers and tofu could be just a bad batch, or bad cook although the shrimp was perfect so don't know why the tofu...
