This review is from a Fat Boy who loves to eat with a picky wife. Thursday night we attempted to hit the Whataburger, but the line was past the darn Burger King and almost to the Hardees. We went again Friday night, the line was only half way to Burger King so we jumped in it. Heres our take!
The Wait: The lobby is not open yet so Its drive Through only. It did take us almost 45 minutes to get to the window. They just opened, still doing training and trying to get in the groove. Of coarse they need to work out the kinks. Im sure It will be better in the near future. Whataburger Is new here, everybody wants it.
The Help: The order taker and the window person were very nice and polite. After we were done giving our order, Im guessing that the mic got stuck on. You can hear them going back and forth about dropping fries and rings and which order was next and so on. They have to be overwhelmed with such a busy opening. How often does a fast food joint have a line past two other fast food joints!
The Food: We ordered the Bacon Steakhouse Double Whatameal w/ Onion Rings Large, Whataburger Patty Melt Whatameal w/ Fries Large and a 9 piece Whatawings. The first thing that I noticed is that the bag was friggen heavy. We chowed down sharing each other’s meals. The sandwiches were huge, way bigger than any other fast food place. Both the burger and the melt were really really good. The large fries and rings were also very good and hot. Both large sides were about 25% larger than the other places. We decided that we were going to give them a 10 on the food taste and temp. We were pleasantly surprised.
Our overall experience was excellent! The long wait is expected due to Whataburger being the new thing in town. I would expect that in the next few days when they open the lobby and find that groove, the wait times will get better. I seen a couple reviews that weren’t so positive, one of the reviewers profiles showed nothing but negative reviews. (Read between the lines with that one) It’s too early to look at negatives. Give It a try and come to your own...
Read moreOkay, so I'd imagine my experience is the outlier, not the norm, as I stopped in at 1:15-ish on a Sunday, so the church rush was in full swing, and even considering that I'd worked in fast food 25 years ago, I've never seen a fast food joint quite so busy. We're I to rate entirely on what I'd experienced it would probably be a 3 star trip, but they get a grace star for how dang busy it was. Here's what went down: I ordered from the kiosk. Kiosk prompts me for a table tent number. There's no table tents, so I just make up a number and try to stand out of the way until I see the food come out. 23 minutes later the food came out, without a cup for my drink. Had to wait in line for another 4 minutes to get a cup. That was kind of a weird one, the kid at the register just kind of stared at me like I slapped his dog or something. Finally asked for the cup when I realized he wasn't going to say anything. By the time I got to the table with my food the burger was room temperature, but the fries were piping hot, so what I think might have happened was that they weren't able to keep up with fry demand, but we're still making burgers as ordered. Anyway, other than cold, the burger was pretty dang tasty. I'm down that way often enough for work, will order again when they're more prepared for A+ service, and update my review based on that experience.
Edit 6/20/25: Food was fast, hot, and pretty dang good. ...
Read moreI've heard great things about this place and let me say - it DID disappoint. We got there, ordered, sat down and ate in a reasonable time. Food was okay. Fries weren't very fresh, but were warm. Burger was okay. I decided that I wanted to get an apple pie and try it. I ordered at the kiosk at 6:36 pm. I waited for a while without complaint. Around 15 minutes later me and my family grew impatient. We asked about it and was told it wouldn't take long. We kept waiting. Other people around me had been also waiting for around 20 minutes for their food. The place was busy, but not busy enough to take 20+ minutes for small orders. Around 7:05 I asked another worker if I could go ahead and get a refund and she asked me what I have, so I said just one apple pie. The lady went to check and another lady apologized and said that they were very busy and short staffed (although there was at least maybe 8-10 workers) and that the apple pie just came up and if I still would like it. So I said yes if it just came up. The lady (who I asked a refund for originally) sorta threw her hands up in the air some. I got the apple pie maybe 30 seconds later around 7:10. None of the staff when apologizing for the wait on orders really seemed apologetic. When I got to the car, some of the pie was raw. I gave up. Aroune 35 for one...
