Cafe Sabor — Restaurant in Layton

Ive had Cafe Sabor many times in Logan, Bear Lake, and St. George. I lived in Logan over 25 yrs, and recently moved to Layton area... I knew today Thursday Cafe Sabor had a burrito and drink special in Logan location, but now living in Layton i called earlier to find out if the Layton location had same special. They said they did, so i stopped after work about 330 pm. There was very few customers at this time. To make the story short, it took at least 20 minutes OR longer to get my burrito. The issue was there were many workers, but i guess only ONE waitress.... She was making alcohol drinks for a couple that had ordered drinks....she had to make them twice because she didnt make them right the first time. This whole entire time (20 minutes at least) i was waiting for my burrito... Thats all i ordered and a side of homemade tortillas!!! Finally she brought my plate, i was annoyed it took so long. I told her i didnt want to pay full price for the COLD burrito she brought me. I explained it had taken WAY TO LONG to get my food in the dead restaurant. I asked if i could get the meal for free or at least half off. Then came the "manager" i assume she was. She didnt introduce herself and seemed annoyed she had to deal with me. I explained the situation Again to her....again long story short...she didnt apologize for the cold burrito. She offered me a free one to take home. I said i didnt want that. I wanted to eat what i ordered there...and asked for half off the meal or free. We argued a little in front of the couple that had ordered the drinks. I told her i didnt want a burrito to take home, i asked again if she would charge half price for the meal or free. She said the burrito was already the special and she couldn't or wouldn't do that. So i had already had about 2 or 3 bites of the burrito whn the manager came over... I told her that i didnt want to pay for the burrito. So she took the plate away. As i got up to leave i asked if she was the manager?? She didnt respond, and i explained she was a horrible manager if she was!!! Ive never had an issue like that in my 49 yrs of living and eating at a restaurant. It was my worst dinning experience from an established franchise. I dont think she is the right person for the job. I told her Justin Hamilton would hear about this, and left without eating the meal i had been looking forward to all day, and it was the most unprofessional and disappointing food experience ive EVER HAD. IT MADE me MAD and im not sure ill ever return to any of the locations. It was embarrassing. Then the worst part is i had ordered a side of tortillas because usually they are fresh...the ones they brought me were store bought. I asked if they made their own tortillas like other locations, they explained the tortilla maker was...

We usually LOVE Cafe Sabor. the food was absolutely delicious. The waitress was horrible. I understand that there's a shortage of workers, so I tried to let it go. We arrived at 5:20 before the dinner rush. We were seated right away, but our waitress didn't bring us chips or acknowledge us for at least 7-10minutes, then. She brought us chips, took our drink order and it was another 7-10 minutes before she brought us our drinks. We had eaten all the chips, still no drinks, our friend had to go to the bar and ask for a glass of water, because the wonderful salsa & nothing to drink it with. When she did bring our drink order, it was wrong, I got regular soda, not diet. I had to eat 1/3 of my meal without a drink, because she didn't bring it for that long. Then my friend asked for a refill she got diet instead of regular. That was okay everyone makes mistakes. But, 2 of us received our food after a reasonable wait, but the other entrees didn't arrive for at least 10 minutes after that. The Table next to us, which was seated after us, and had the order taken a long time after our. Received all their food at one time, (before ours.) That's a bit ridiculous. When we got dessert, she did not take any of the 13 glasses or plates, we had to eat dessert over our dirty dishes, it was so cluttered, it was really annoying. AND... we ask for two more spoons to share. After 5 minute wait, I sent my husband to go get 2 more spoons. (Ice cream tends to melt) He went to the bathroom first. Saw her standing & talking. He went, came back, he got the spoons and she was still in the same place, talking to the same person! In fact she didn't bring us the spoons until our dessert was long gone. And we began the long process of waiting for her to bring us the check and leftover dishes. We finally gave up on the leftover dishes and got our own. This is not all the details of our long wait, just the highlights. We were seated at 5:20 and left at 6:50! Dinner took an hour and 30 minutes! Our tip went down to 15% it would have been considerably more, had she done better. I really tried to give her the benefit of the doubt. We will come back, because we love the food, but if we get the same waitress, we will ask to be seated...

Save your money and appetite and go somewhere else. Service was so slow to begin with. Finally got our food, which was good. Half way through our chips the gal came and asked us if we wanted the free queso they were offering, so we said yes. By the time they got it to us, we didn't have any chips left, so she asked if we wanted some more chips. Of course, since we didn't have anything to eat the queso she just brought. So she finally got there with more chips and come to find out the free queso would only last about 6-8 chips. Wasn't much there, except the surprise of an additional charge for the additional chips on our bill, which she never told us that we would be charged. During the time we were there, having finally got our food, there was another couple seated at the table next to us. The waitress that was working our table walked past this couple several times, never acknowledging their existence. They waited for 15 minutes and finally got up and walked out. The waitress, finally came back 10 minutes later and another couple had been seated at the table. She had no idea that it was a different couple. Anyway, sitting there waiting for our bill, my husband got up and got a to-go container so we could take care of our leftovers. Still she was no where to be found. Meanwhile we were sitting by the back door, just outside the drink/chip prep area. A taller heavy weight man with a gray t-shirt was back there getting another patron, what appeared to be a flan with caramel on top. He obviously didn't realize that anyone was paying attention or flat out didn't care. He grabbed a chip, threw it in the air, the chip bounced out of his mouth, landed in the dessert. He picked up the chip stuck it back in his mouth, continued spreading what appeared to be caramel sauce on the dessert, then turned around and took the dessert to the an older couple sitting at the bar at approx 6:30pm. I was so disgusted, we paid our bill and walked out. The service was so bad, we will never return to this restaurant again. The waitress just slowly sauntered everywhere she went with no...
