I love the concept of this women owned cafe where you can get breakfast stuff in the afternoon. They have a creative/unque menu and cute/eclectic shop. Finding places that offer fresh/healthy food to go like this is rare/much needed. The food overall is quite good and fresh tasting most if the time. I like that they have a reward program. The only issue is the inconsistency and seeming lack of organization in getting a simple/full order together efficiently. I understand it takes longer to make fresh/homemade food. It is just that service/food is inconsistent, something has been missing a few times, and (at times) it has taken an excessive amount of time to prepare/have ready, even when not busy. This has happened with online and in person/eating-in ordering. There just seems to be a disconnect in communication/prep. When I have ordered through their app online, it didn't seem to have received or prepared in a timely manner. I really like to support local businesses so I keep hoping the process will improve. There are some young people that work there who seem like they need better training on customer service and proper food handling. Generally I have had good experiences. However, I had a frustrating experience with young man who needs to learn proper/sanitary food handling (washing hands after handing dirty floor mats/cleaning before handling food/not wearing gloves to handle food) and the cashier who just seemed apathetic or didn't know how to handle the situation. There was no one other client and four staff members when I came in to pick up my order which was behind schedule. The sandwich I ordered sat for a while without being finished/bagged. The staff seemed unaware until I said something. Then the food handling was an issue. I ended up with a stale biscuit instead of the sandwich and the Smoothie Bowl didn't look/taste as...
Read moreA Complete Waste of Money - Zero Stars If I Could. I rarely write reviews, but this experience was so disappointing that I feel compelled to warn others. This restaurant is a masterclass in how NOT to run a food establishment. The Drinks Were an Insult Let’s start with the beverages, which were somehow worse than tap water. The “Day Dream Matcha” - what a joke of a name for what essentially amounted to colored water with ice. Zero matcha flavor, zero sweetness, zero effort. I’ve had better matcha from gas station vending machines. The turmeric latte was equally offensive - bland, watery, and tasting like someone waved a turmeric root in the general direction of lukewarm milk. Even the watermelon juice, which should be impossible to mess up, was completely flavorless. How do you even achieve that level of blandness with fresh fruit? The Food Was Even Worse. The avocado toast was the final nail in the coffin. Stale, rock-hard bread that could double as a weapon, topped with what can only be described as the saddest, most oxidized brown avocados I’ve ever seen. The presentation looked like it was assembled by someone with their eyes closed. And don’t get me started on the “beetroot dip” - a mysterious pink substance that tasted like absolutely nothing and had the consistency of paste. The prices they charge for this garbage is criminal. I could have made everything 10 times better at home with ingredients from a convenience store. The lack of care, flavor, and basic food safety standards is astounding. Save your money, save your time, and save your taste buds. There are plenty of places that actually care about what they serve. This isn’t one of them. Rating: 1/5 stars (and that’s...
Read moreMy family and I have gone to the Cowbell Kitchen every weekend since we moved to Leesburg a year ago. While we’ve always loved the food and enjoyed our interactions with the staff (who are consistently kind and helpful), today the crew at Cowbell truly outdid theirselves. I ordered our usual muffins and scones online the evening before, but when I arrived today, a mistake was made that left them unable to give us the blueberry muffin we ordered for my four year old.
The woman who was attempting to correct the error offered numerous substitutions for the blueberry muffin. When I expressed the blueberry was for my four year old who only likes blueberry muffins and really struggles to handle unexpected changes with flexibility which is why we order ahead of time and that I was unsure of an adequate substitution, the lady kindly gave me a brownie, a blueberry scone, a strawberry muffin, and a small bag of cookies ON THE HOUSE. She apologized profusely and stated how bad she felt.
I couldn’t believe how generous she was considering it was clearly an honest mistake. When I explained to my little girl I had no blueberry muffin due to a mixup BUT the kind lady gave her a bag of cookies, a brownie, a muffin, AND a scone to make up for it, she giggled while saying, “I’m so happy!” The crew at Cowbell saved the day with their kindness.
Great food and great people at a small local business! Above and beyond response to a one time mistake! What more can...
