Our lively little waitress was outSTANDing. Service with a smile. The plates had the usual STANDouts with a few items that needed to STANDdown or else surrender to some STANDins. Overall the restaurant does a STANDup job. The line cooks are fervent in their discipline and are obliging in their STAND and deliver attitude in the face of nonSTANDard requests. Concerning the matter of an opinion on this restaurant I think you can tell where I STAND. .......................................
Formerly: Lisa sure seems to get around in this town. I know of numerous restaurants that all go by some moniker that includes Lisa's name. Maybe some kind of Mexican food doppelganger, a septuplet occurrence of Lisas, or just a popular name I suppose.
This Lisa's seems to keep pretty busy for the breakfast and lunch hours it is open. Waitresses shuttle to and fro from the kitchen to the tables and bus boys rumble up and down the isle with their carts in constant bump car motion. This might be a little disconcerting for those looking for a quiet meal 'cause quiet here it ain't. Adding to the din, Muzak tunes will definitely tickle the fancy of us baby-boomers with 50's be-bop and favorites like The Purple Eater.
We ordered nachos to begin sampling the fare here. They came as a "piled" version rather than individually made. Quite a pile for $4. Not bad, but the beans are a little lack-luster. That being the case we quickly changed the bean portion of our plate order to frijoles a la charra which were good and a little spicy hot. The cheese enchilada was not bad, but the beef version stole the show with some nice hunks of steak as part of the enchilada "stuffing". The garlic rice was good and so was the puffy taco though grease-a-phobes be warned. You will see a slick lipid puddle on the plate after consumption.
Service was average to good and the prices very reasonable. The menu shows a good variety with sandwiches, hamburgers and even seafood. Breakfast tacos are next on the return visit. Good selection of flour folders across the board. Popular place with a good reason for being so - added to our ever growing list of acceptable places for a...
Read moreI've been coming here for a while now, but after noticing a few things in the past and after today's stupidity I've had enough. First I've noticed that the damn bus boys tend to clear a table and hang the salsa jars by the handle over their bins that are directly over the garbage can on their bus cart. Service is always unreliable here but it was tolerable. Also from time to time I've had to wrangle them with their inconsistent pricing. Still I came here. I don't know why but I did. However today really was the last straw for me and my biggest gripe with them was that today a Sunday, in their rush to go home, they just did everything you should never do if you're serving people. Cleaning while people were still eating is just a big no no. I don't mean the regular stuff as in busing a table or sweeping. I'm talking disinfectant sprays all over the place..In their rest room while I was washing my hands this lady just started spraying bleach all over the place. The kind that burns your lungs when you inhale. I later found out they had done the same thing in the women's washroom and my Mom's blouse became an unfortunate casualty of their inconsideration. Parts of her blouse where the spray had hit her turned her bright blue outfit into this grayish spotted thing. She even complained to the manager but got nothing but an insincere apology. I can understand if you were the last people there and its their hint at making you leave but they practically had a half full restaurant when they did this. Also I hope to God no one in the stalls were allergic to the chemicals because that's a law suit waiting to happen if that is a regular practice. Can you imagine answering nature's call and getting an allergic reaction from the fumes from...
Read moreMy boyfriend and I were having our windows tinted across the street from Tia’s Taco Hut. We had an hour to wait, and to kill time, decided to cross the street and check out the stores. Just as we crossed the street, there was a gust of wind that sent the smell of my grandma’s kitchen in our direction. We followed the scent to Tia’s taco hut. We were greeted as we entered the restaurant and then made our way to a table that was available. Due to Covid, the seating was arranged so that patrons were not seated close to one another. They made it possible for customers to seat themselves by placing a large X, with masking tape, on the tables that were not available. By doing this, it kept patrons a safe distance from one another. We were greeted by the waitress who gave us our menus and offered our drinks in, ‘to go’ cups in case we wanted a refill to take home. We ordered our food and then I proceeded to the ladies room to wash my hands. And FYI, the ladies room was clean and well kept. We snacked on the chips and salsa our waitress had brought us and within minutes, we were served with our hot, delicious and tasty food. The food was so good and our chalupas were perfect. It tasted like my grandma’s cooking. The tostadas were crispy and fried to perfection and the meat in the enchiladas melted in my mouth. The flour tortillas were homemade which is important when eating Mexican food!!! They didn’t miss a beat with the tastiest horchata I’ve ever had. I wish I had paid attention to this restaurant along time ago. I will definitely visit Tia’s taco hut again and I highly recommend it if you like GREAT TASTING...
